Retiree and Annuitant Services (RAS) (continued) • Global Pay • Self Service – The first two phases has been implemented and we are currently working on phase three. RAS has been receiving approximately 1000 phone calls/emails a month for resetting passwords, accounts being locked, etc. • The proposed schedule for next Self-Service phases are: • 1 July - change EFT info & submit ROE's/COE's • 1 Sep - start/stop/change allotments & opt out of Pay Slips • 1 Dec - change FITW/SITW & update final pay beneficiaries
Retiree and Annuitant Services (RAS) (continued) • TAX ISSUES: STATE TAX • As a reminder when moving from one state to another and updating your home mailing address, don't forget to change your state tax withholdings. • The retiree must request a change for state tax and an address change does not automatically change or stop the state information that the tax is being paid to.
Retiree and Annuitant Services (RAS) (continued) • Federal Income Tax Withholding • In April 2009 the IRS published a new set of federal withholding tables in conjunction with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and this lowered federal taxes withheld however it did not lower the tax liability. We have received numerous complaints from the retired community because they owe the IRS money. • The retiree must submit a W-4 to request a change for federal taxes.
Retiree and Annuitant Services (RAS) (continued) • CRDP/CRSC and the VA • Working on a new MOA with the VA that will include procedures for processing CRDP/CRSC. VA working on reviewing Agent Orange/Gulf War Vet Cases • VARO Portland letter states it takes on average 127 days for the VA to process CRDP/CRSC payments, 168 days for Oregon • Hosting the next Quarterly VA meeting in Topeka next week – member of 6 working groups for MOA
Retiree and Annuitant Services (RAS) (continued) • PPC Retiree Address Lists • My understanding of the issue is that address lists were requested for sending out holiday cards. • The PPC Legal Office coordinated with TJAG’s Office and refused to release the information because of the Privacy Act. • The Legal Office recommends you work through the CG-1 liaison to request future address lists and if you have concerns on this matter.
Retiree and Annuitant Services (RAS) (continued) • Ret-2 Reserve Support • No update since last year’s meeting. RAS continues under an MEO and this function is not part of it. • Upon notification of an address change, RAS does have the capability to update the system. • Suggestions – Allow the Ret-2 Reservist self service access on DA to update addresses and phone numbers. • Run an article in the Reserve Magazine annually or biannually about keeping RAS updated on address changes.
Retiree and Annuitant Services (RAS) (continued) • Other Items of Interest • RAS does not keep copies of DD214’s in the Retired Pay File. The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) has provided the following website for retirees to gain access to their DD-214 online: http://vetrecs.archives.gov/. • Note: This website does not allow you to see or print a copy of your DD-214 but does allow you to print the request form to mail or fax to NPRC.
Retiree and Annuitant Services (RAS) (continued) • Other Items of Interest • Copies of 2008 and 2009 1099R’s and 12 months of RAS statements are now available on self service. • Retired Pay Projections can be obtained from the following website: http://www.uscg.mil/ppc/ras/retirementprocessing.asp
