Existing group health care coverage for Medicare eligible non-union retirees and dependents ends on December 31, 2011 You have access to personalized decision support for comparing and enrolling in a robust choice of supplemental Medicare coverage options Extend Health provides 1:1 services to help you find and enroll in the coverage that meets your medical and financial needs • U. S. Steelis changing the way it provides access to health care coverage for Medicare eligible non-unionretirees and dependents

Steel and Transtar, Inc. group sponsored coverage for non-union Medicare participants ends December 31, 2011 • You must select and enroll in plans available in the individual market to maintain supplemental Medicare insurance coverage and must do soprior December 7, 2011 to have supplemental Medicare insurance coverage effective January 1, 2012 • Extend Health can help you assess options and enroll in the coverage that’s right for you • Depends on what coverage you choose • Private supplemental Medicare insurance options generally provide comprehensive coverage and more affordable premiums than current group coverage • You will have more health care coverage options to choose from – you can enroll through Extend Health or on your own • You and your Medicare covered dependents enroll separately • Extend Health provides personalized decision support and enrollment assistance • Extend Health is here to help you understand the costs associated with your coverage options – premiums, co-payments, deductibles and all other costs.   7. What You Need To Do Action required by current participants in U. S. Steel sponsored group coverage! • Enroll in Medicare Part B if not already enrolled • Choose new individual supplemental Medicare medical and/or prescription drug plan(s) if you want supplemental Medicare and prescription drug coverage in 2012 • Enroll through Extend Health or on your own between October 17 and December 7 • You and your eligible dependents each need to enroll separately for coverage During this enrollment period only, coverage elections are guaranteed and not subject to underwriting if you are losing group coverage

  8. Retirees or covered spouses who are not yet eligible for Medicare • Change generally will not affect non-union retiree participants who currently are not eligible for Medicare • U. S. Steel sponsored program for pre-Medicare retirees and eligible spouses remains available • 2012 Annual Enrollment period information will be mailed soon • Pre-Medicare participants will receive information about Retiree Choices when the individual becomes Medicare eligible

OPTION 1: Medigap Plan + Part D Plan MEDIGAP (Medicare Supplement) A Medigap plan fills the “gaps” in original Medicare Part A and Part B coverage (i.e., helps pay the difference between your costs and the amount original Medicare pays). These plans provide additional coverage for your doctor visits and hospital stays as well as other expenses not covered by original Medicare. PART D PLAN A Part D plan supplements Medigap to provide prescription drug coverage. These plans help pay for your prescription drug expenses. OPTION 2: Medicare Advantage Plan with Prescription Drug Coverage (MAPD)* MAPD PLAN An MAPD plan provides an all-in-one plan which bundles your Part A, Part B and prescription drug coverage together with additional benefits.
