  11. Thesis and courses – Examples

  12. Individual study plan – Individuell studieplan ISP • FTK are updating our template and one of the big differences is that t the ISP have measurable goals to the ASP. The ISP is a document between the PhD-student and LnU. According to the Higher Education Ordinance, HP, Chapter 6, § 29 the supervisor and PhD-student need to establish an ISP. In connection whit the follow-up Anders invites PhD-student and supervisor to a short meeting. • An individual study plan (ISP) shall be drawn up for each doctoral student and adopted after consultation with the doctoral student and his/hers supervisor • The ISP includes a plan for how to complete the studies within the given timeframe, 4 years for PhD or 2 years for licentiate degree • The ISP describes how the responsibility is shared between the doctoral student and the supervisors • The ISP is revised and reviewed regularly, once a year • If any major changes should occur in the studies, the ISP should be updated as soon as possible and the new timetable should be confirmed

  13. Individual study plan – Contents Basic information • Student, principal supervisor, assistant supervisor(s) and examiner • Description of how responsibilities and tasks are shared • Description of the thesis subject or abstract • Planned and accumulated degree of activity • Planned activity level (percentage of full time studies) Planned and implemented activities • Courses • Participation in conferences, collaboration with other universities, community and private sector • Departmental duties • Thesis work

  14. Individual study plan – Contents Follow-up • Completed courses and thesis work; departmental duties; conferences and collaboration with other parties • Possible deviations from the previous planning, reasons for these and what measures are taken to prevent the prolongation of the study programme • Degree of fulfillment (estimated percentage) • Accumulated activity level (see the latest registration in Ladok) Quality assurance • Notes from student and supervisors Signatures • Student, Principal supervisor, Examiner, Dean, Head of Department (Prefekt)

  15. Ladok LPW- Ladok via the Internet There is a tab for research education where you can find information about admission, registration, activity, support, supervisor, completed parts/courses, credit transfer, exam, dissertation and so on. It´s possible to create transcript of records. If you need another kind of certificate with stamps and signatures, please contact Gisela Prytz Isgren. • Result • To register your credits you or your supervisor need to fill in a course description, for the templates follow the link below. Email the name and personal ID number to gisela.isgren@lnu.se or ftk.fur@lnu.se who will register your credits in Ladok. The archive list is sent to the examiner for signing and then sent back to Gisela Prytz Isgren for archiving. • https://medarbetare.lnu.se/organisation/ftk/forskning/forskarutbildning

  16. Ladok SCB report Based on the collaboration between the PhD-student, the head of department and supervisor, the PhD-students need to give information about the activity twice a year, regardless of employment status. It´s very important that the report is submitted, both for the PhD-student and for the national statistics. This is to provide fair activity. We have a template for this which I email when it´s time for this. The total amount of research activity during the PhD-studies is 800 % , i.e. one term of full-time research studies is counted as 100%. If the term includes other activities than research studies then the activity level (percentage) is decreased accordingly.

  17. Miscellaneous • Change of supervisor/examiner and subject area • Please contact director of post-graduate studies • Send an application to the Faculty board (FUR) • Ryggsäck – extra funding for conferences, literature etc. • Total of 40 000 SKr during the Ph.D. studies • If you study full-time, the usual amount is 10 000 SKr per year • Issues concerning employment • Contact the Personel departement at LnU; each department has its own contact person (personalkonsulten)

  18. Miscellaneous • The doctoral group • Mandatory course • Philosophy of Science/Ethics/Methodology 4 hp.
