  4. Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness (EMPTY); They lacked nothing (PLENTY) Their clothes did not wear out And their feet did not swell. Nehemiah 9:21

  10. 1 Then the Lord gave these instructions to Moses: 2 “Order the Israelites to turn back and camp by Pi-hahiroth between Migdol and the sea. Camp there along the shore, across from Baal-zephon. 3Then Pharaoh will think, ‘The Israelites are confused. They are trapped in the wilderness!’ Exodus 14:1-18

  11. 4 And once again I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will chase after you. I have planned this in order to display my glory through Pharaoh and his whole army. After this the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord!” Exodus 14:1-18

  13. Doubt starts when our PLAN stands in the way of God’s PURPOSE -- v.2 v.2: “Order the Israelites to turn back... (EMPTY). Exodus 14:1-18

  14. Between the PLAN & the PURPOSE is the EMPTY!

  15. Ex 13:18: So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. But God shows us the purpose of the Crisis/doubt -- Exodus 14:4 Exodus 14:1-18

  16. PLAN PROCESS (empty) PURPOSE /PROMISE

  17. ”Then Jesus became explicit, ‘Lazarus died. And I am glad for your sakes that I wasn’t there. You’re about to be given new grounds for believing. Now let’s go to him.’" John 11:14-15 (MSG)

  18. Lessons From “Empty”

  19. 1.Its the “EMPTY” that provides the context for the encounter with power of God. 2.Their “EMPTY” is going to come about because God is leading them- Ex 13:18: So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Exodus 14:1-18

  20. 3. In another word their “EMPTY” is going to happen when they were in the will of God and in obedience to God. Matthew 14:22 -- Immediately after this, Jesus insisted (compelled) that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, 24 Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. Exodus 14:1-18

  21. 4. There is another problem. “Empty” situation will make you confused. It’s strange how people behave in doubt: Crying out to God (v. 10) and Complaining to men (v. 11) v.10 - They cried out to the Lord, v.11 -  and they said to Moses, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? Exodus 14:1-18

  22. 5. What to do if you are confused in doubt/dilemma: a. Get a spiritual perspective: v.13- And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. b. Keep quiet :v.14- The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” Exodus 14:1-18

  23. 6. What is the Take Away in “Empty” situations? So that you can SEE GOD! - v.31 --Thus Israel saw the great work which the Lord had done in Egypt; so the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord and His servant Moses. Exodus 14:1-18
