Loving and Investing in New Converts L.I.N.C. Presentation of LINC Evangelistic Process
LINC Objectives • To satisfy the challenges of moving people from “God-Neutrality” to “Active Faith” within a seamless evangelism ministry through contact, personal interaction, gospel introduction, salvation, social assimilation, doctrinal assimilation and mentoring • The achieve the commission to be an effective evangelistic end-time Apostolic Church in Demonstration, Doctrine and Discipleship • To answer the challenge of “Gods Fingerprint” on the Church (to be a mission-minded, soul oriented, evangelistic church) • To be the organized vehicle to attain our promises
TheL.I.N.C.Perspective Growing from the Outside-InThe concentric circle model helps us recognize the different levels of commitment in our church, understand how people's needs differ at each level, and learn how to lead people to deeper levels of commitment. We have 5 different people groups related to our church right now. COMMUNITYThose living around your church who never or occasionally attend. CROWD Those who attend your church semi-regularly but are not members. CONGREGATIONThose who are committed to both Christ and membership in your church family. COMMITTEDThose members who are serious about growing in spiritual maturity. COREThose members who actively serve in ministry and mission opportunities in our church. The Circles Represent 5 Levels of Commitment Each group has unique needs, motives, problems and POTENTIAL! Our goal is to turn an audience into an army.

From the Community to the Crowd The Simple and Primary Goal of the Outreach Team is to assimilate people from the Community and into the Crowd. The OutreachTeam is responsible for initiating controlled contact and extending invitations to community members. Outreach team members will gather information on “leads” and contacts and update the LINC Interactive Database with pertinent contact information. Additionally, each call and invitation will be updated within the database. At least one call will be made each week. (Establish call and invitation process). As telephone or personal contacts are made, invitations to upcoming church services and/or fellowship events will be sent. The type and frequency of invitation will follow the Call and Invitation Process. Each time an invitation is given, the LINC Interactive Database will be properly updated. Outreach Purpose: To promote a Shared Vision and create an awareness of the need to consistently reach out to our world. Outreach must be actively engaged in reaching the community with the gospel. 1. To be the organized vehicle by which we arrive at fulfilling the “Great Commission”. The primary command of the Great Commission is, “go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Therefore a church must have a strong sense of Outreach as an organized effort and as a lifestyle. 2. To promote the collective efforts of the body of Christ toward the effort of evangelism. Transitioning into a life long soul winner requires learning “Lifestyle Evangelism” … Personal Evangelism that is a way of life. Lifestyle evangelism must be constantly kept before the people of God until it becomes habitual within a church. The transformation from feeling like you are making an effort to be a personal evangelist to feeling as though personal evangelism is second nature comes only to those who are encouraged to exercise themselves therein. It is not natural to be a soul-winner … it is a function of the Holy Ghost within us. The Holy Ghost would make us witnesses if we would allow Him to flow through us.
Outreach (Cont.) Purpose: To promote a Shared Vision and create an awareness of the need to consistently reach out to our world. Outreach must be actively engaged in reaching the community with the gospel. • 3. To assume responsibility for getting contacts for interested people. • The Outreach Ministry must move quickly and purposefully to ensure that all “hot leads” are followed up on promptly. • 4. To assume responsibility for getting seeking people in the community to church. • Lifestyle Evangelism again operates to take responsibility for not only getting the gospel to a soul but also to get the soul to church. • To stay abreast of outreach and evangelism strategies that are effectively employed in successfulEvangelistic Churches. • Keeping in touch with successful outreach efforts and programs that may be employed successfully by us. Focus on “Need Based” outreach tools that effectively target a community. • To Eat, Drink, Sleep, and Breathe Revival!
From the Crowd to the Congregation The Simple and Primary Goal of the Visitor Information & Follow up Team is to assimilate people from the Crowd and into the Congregation The Visitor Information and Follow UpTeam will receive census data from Outreach and the LINC Interactive Database. Members of the Visitor Information and Follow Up Team will serve as primary points of contacts for those in “The Crowd”. Follow-up care packages will be delivered to the home of visitors. Pertinent information will be communicated to the pastor for all new visitors or those who have shown a high interest in LifeWay. All schedules will be properly maintained within the LINC Interactive Database. Follow up calls and letters will be administered using the call and invitation process. Visitor Information and Follow-Up Purpose: To promote a Shared Vision and effect church growth by serving visitors and communicating with them regularly • 1. To provide accurate and useable data of all visitors, new converts, and backsliders within the LINC database. • This is vital to the process becausea databasemakes information accessible to each level of L.I.N.C. • To compile important personal/family information on visitors for the pastor and ministries of the church. • In today’s society few people feel like they are personally important to any organization. To have this kind of information would open up opportunities to minister to visitors on a personal level • To become a point of contact for all visitors who do not know anyone in the church. • Many times visitors feel more like intruders. First of all, they are in unfamiliar surroundings and secondly churches are like large extended families. Because of these two factors they need someone to introduce them to people and make them feel comfortable.
Visitor Information and Follow-Up (Cont.) Purpose: To promote a Shared Vision and effect church growth by serving visitors and communicating with them regularly 4. To send appropriate letters to visitors. Following-up with a letter says to the visitor, “You didn’t go unnoticed and we enjoyed having you.” This contact is more important then we may understand because it establishes a feeling of connection and importance. In essence it is re-enforcing that two of the most basic needs in people can be met here … 1. the need for belonging and 2. the need to matter. 5. To ensure that all interested parties are visited and ministered to appropriately. Most people who come to church are coming because of need. They may have suffered a tragedy, they may feel lonely, they may be going through a divorce, they may be ill, they may have any number of needs that they hope to have met by God and the local church. It is impossible for the pastor to get heart to heart with 10 new visitors on a Sunday morning. Therefore this just may be the most needful area of L.I.N.C. If we do not take the time to find out just why they have visited us, we will lose a tremendous opportunity to do the work of God and minister to that person. Many times in the gospels people made their first contact with the disciples. The disciples would minister to the people and lead them to Jesus. In that same way, today you are the first line of contact.
From the Congregation to Commitment The Simple and Primary Goal of the Care & Prayer Team is to assimilate people from the Congregation and into a committed relationship with God The L.I.N.C. Care and PrayerTeam will be responsible for establishing the new convert support group. Moving toward real commitment, the new convert support group will coordinate outings and continued fellowship activities. This is commonly referred to as “Social Assimilation into the Body of Christ.” Outings and fellowship activities will be properly updated within the LINC Interactive Database. Members of the Care and PrayerTeam will be on the frontlines in the discipleship process. This team will be examples of “Christian Living” and extend themselves into the lives of others as the “hands and feet of Jesus” in our world. Essentially C&P will coordinate with the Discipleship and Development Team as they initiate the Discipleship process coupled with the intensive Care/Prayer/Attention that people require in early stages of Christian development. This aspect of Care and Prayer shows the L.I.N.C. process of providing a “safety-net” underneath New Converts. Care and Prayer will establish and coordinate a 24-hour prayer schedule. All prayer requests will be collected after each service and incorporated into a consolidated prayer list. Each item will be tracked to completion and reported in victory reports during preliminary service activities as appropriate. LINC Care & Prayer Outings Social Assimilation Into LifeWay Cont. L.I.N.C. Care and Prayer Purpose: To promote a Shared Vision and to effect church growth by supporting the assimilation of converts into LifeWay. • To provide support to new converts through encouragement and prayer. • Staying in touch with the other directors within L.I.N.C. to be knowledgeable of the needs of those we are in contact with. Making an effort to reach out to meet those needs with Servant Oriented Support. • To provide information to new converts concerning Bible studies. • This would be integrating them into Bible-studies and getting them discipled. • 3.To pray with New Converts in the area of personal growth and to help encourage them. • Being an example in all things that they may emulate a holy lifestyle.
L.I.N.C. Care and Prayer (Cont.) Purpose: To promote a Shared Vision and to effect church growth by supporting the assimilation of converts into LifeWay. • To call and invite/include new converts and visitors in functions that would interest them … e.g. Young marrieds get-togethers, Family Bowling nights, etc. • This would necessitate personal interaction with the individual to know what functions they would be interested in. Many new converts have not developed the habit of regular church attendance and may miss announcements of events and church functions. You will be responsible to involve them and integrate them into the church. • To encourage and pray with new converts around the altar. • Ministering spiritually to new converts and visitors. Staying in touch with their spiritual condition and helping in prayer and encouragement. Praying for strength and a hedge about new converts who are facing spiritual attack. (The devil won’t give them up without a fight.) Great sensitivity is a priority here that we don’t overwhelm anyone. • To provide personal touch items such as cards and care packages to those who are “wavering” or new to the church. • To provide fellowship or functions that draw them in.
From the Committed to the Core The Simple and Primary Goal of the Discipleship & Development Team is to instruct those who have made personal commitments to serving God The Discipleship and DevelopmentTeam’s primary function is to infuse various bible study courses into the framework of on-going development of the local church body. Primary oversight is provided by the Pastor and Discipleship & Development Ministry Team Leader. D&D will be responsible for the doctrinal progress of those within our care. A “Train-the-Trainer” program will equip each instructor with the necessary tools to become established home Bible study teachers and effective in the discipleship process. Ministerial leadership will conduct each training seminar on a quarterlybasis. Discipleship and Development Purpose: To promote a Shared Vision and to effect church growth by discipling people in the area of the knowledge of God’s Word and by solidifying new converts in Apostolic doctrine. • 1. To provide necessary resources to individuals interested in teaching a home Bible study. • Equipping those who want to be involved with home Bible study with the materials and training to be effective in this area. Assessing the type of Bible study a person is wanting to or capable of getting involved with. (i.e. one-lesson, four-lesson, twelve-lesson, etc.) • To keep an accurate list of all individuals currently teaching and receiving Bible studies. • This would include staying on top of the H.B.S. scene. Anyone who would be involved in a Bible-study would report with the director so that we can keep track of all the studies-in-progress. • Discipleship Series. • Continued development of course material, instructors and the scheduling of classes. • To promote the Discipleship process within LINC. • To be on the front-lines of teaching Bible-studies.
Discipleship and Development (Cont.) Purpose: To promote a Shared Vision and to effect church growth by discipling people in the area of the knowledge of God’s Word and by solidifying new converts in Apostolic doctrine. • 5. To communicate to and remain instructed by pastor concerning the status of Bible Studies in progress or planned. • Keeping in close communication with the pastor will allow the pastor to know where each Bible-study in progress is at. This will allow the pastor to meet with those individuals and re-enforce through prayer and counseling what is currently being taught. It will also inform pastor of any “hang-ups” or problems that can be addressed efficiently. • To remain informed of new Bible Study materials and review them. • There is a variety of Bible-materials currently offered through the Pentecostal Publishing House. Some of the Bible-studies are age-specific, some are evangelistic, some are discipling and Christian development along with may more. Remaining informed of these materials will allow each person’s needs to be met with a Bible study specific to him/her. • 7. To receive and organize New Converts and New Member Orientation materials. • We will be involved in the training of New Converts in Apostolic Doctrine, and the organization of New Member Orientation. The classes and curriculum will be under direction of the D&D Team Leader with supervision from the Pastor.
LINC Interactive Database (LIDS) Each ministry team leader will have the ability to access the LINC Interactive Database via a web assessable interface to understand the step of the internal process of which a new convert is involved. By continually updating the status of new converts a seamless integration into the Kingdom of God will be achieved. Additionally, open lines of communication will be established between various LINC ministry teams and leadership to prevent failures in the discipleship process. Monthly status meetings will allow for recommended updates to the currently defined processes as the church moves into greater levels of revival.
