7- CONCLUSION • Interior spaces could be finished by a variety of materials and construction techniques. • The choice of a material for the space depends on: • Function of the space. • Easy for cleaning and maintenance. • Physical characteristics of the material : Durability, Heat and acoustics characteristics, damp and moisture, …etc. • Visual appearance of the material : color, texture, pattern, …etc. • Relationship with other interior design elements. • The most familiar flooring materials are : Terrazzo and mosaic tiles, wood, stone, marble, ceramic, carpet, lemonium, rubber, cork, ...etc. • The most familiar finishes for the ceilings are: Gypsum panels and tiles, wood, metal, glass, paints, …etc. • The most familiar materials used for wall finishing are: paint, wood, marble, stone, ceramics, metal, gypsum, …etc. • Accessories of different materials could be used as complementary elements in the decoration of interior spaces.
