  1. Senior English 9/3/13 • What do you think “mental coward” could mean? • Instructor: "Isn't it remarkable how quickly the kids learn to drive the car?" Parent: "Yes, especially considering how slowly they catch on to running the lawnmower and vacuum cleaner.“ • FIDO – Freaks, Irregulars, Defects, Odditites. A coin collector’s term for a minting error. Goals –Explore the meaning of “mental coward” and the necessity of courage in school. Discuss AIW. Finish Analysis of Prospective Imigrants… .Analyze article and pursue a text-based discussion. Homework –Write a well thought out answer to the following for discussion tomorrow: Finish poetry analysis write a conclusions using text-based Arguments.

Add it to SWAK if you mean business! Goals – Take notes and analyze an article. Discuss viewpoints using text-based arguments. Homework – Write a well thought out answer to the following for discussion tomorrow: Is intelligence fixed at birth or can people become more intelligent? Use text based evidence in your answer.

A cynical description of the way important decisions are made in schools. Goals – Successfully complete Week 1 vocab. quiz. Fun with metaphors, similes and analogies. Homework – Write a well thought out short passage including effective metaphors, similes or analogies. You will receive extra credit for sharing in class on Monday.
