Warm-Up: November 11, 2009 • Place your lab questions and graph in the center of your desk. • Make sure you have your heading on them.
Today we will… • Calculate speed using formula speed = distance ÷ time speed = distance/time • Interpret (read) distance time graphs • Walk the graph • Use data from graph to draw conclusions
Agenda • Turn in speed graphs and questions • Hiker Lab • Distance/Time Graph Practice Problems • Exit Slip
Hiker Lab • Read the procedure out loud at your table. • Person GREEN reads first, then clockwise. • Read 4 sentences and then rotate.
Lab Roles Green-Hiker Red-Hold calculator Yellow-Hold motion sensor Blue- Start program Hiker does 2 graphs and then rotate.
Hiker Lab • 25 minutes to complete all 8 graphs • Each lab role 2 times (Hike twice) • Show me correct graph • Every person gets teacher signature at that time • Record instructions about how you made the graph on your lab page.
Think Page 77 Draw a diagram showing what we did in the Hiker lab. A 5th grade family member is having trouble with their distance time graphs. Write down what you would tell them to help them with their homework.
Independent Practice • 15 minutes • Use your formula chart. • Silently work • Raise your hand if you need help • If you get done, read silently or complete brain teaser puzzle.
