Station 1: Comparison of Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq • Critics have claimed that the United States is acting as “World Police” or “Big Brother” in the Middle East right now. Do you agree or disagree? On what basis? • In order to enter a war, whether limited or total, a country has to consider its interests at stake. What interests were the United States protecting in Korea? Vietnam? Now in Iraq? • During the Korean War and the Vietnam War, protests emerged in almost all major cities among young college students, musicians, and celebrities. Is the same thing happening right now? Why or why not? • How have world politics changed since the times of Korea and Vietnam? How are they the same? • What can we learn from Korea and Vietnam that we can apply to the current situation in Iraq?

It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no. Some folks inherit star spangled eyes, Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord, And when you ask them, "How much should we give?" Artist/Band: Haggard MerleLyrics for Song: Okie from Muskogee We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee; We don't take our trips on LSDWe don't burn our draft cards down on Main Street; We like livin' right, and bein' free.I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee,A place where even squares can have a ballWe still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of allWe don't make a party out of lovin';We like holdin' hands and pitchin' woo;We don't let our hair grow long and shaggy,Like the hippies out in San Francisco do.And I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee,A place where even squares can have a ball.We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all.Leather boots are still in style for manly footwear;Beads and Roman sandals won't be seen.Football's still the roughest thing on campus,And the kids here still respect the college dean.We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,In Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA.
All Along The Watchtower: Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix "There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,None of them along the line know what any of it is worth.""No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke. But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."All along the watchtower, princes kept the viewWhile all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.

Artist: Joan Baez LyricsSong: Blowin' in the Wind Lyrics How many roads must a man walk downBefore they call him a manHow many seas must a white dove sailBefore she sleeps in the sandHow many times must the cannonballs flyBefore they are forever bannedThe answer, my friend, is blowing in the windThe answer is blowing in the windHow many years must a mountain existBefore it is washed to the seaHow many years can some people existBefore they're allowed to be freeHow many times can a man turn his headAnd pretend that he just doesn't seeThe answer, my friend, is blowing in the windThe answer is blowing in the windHow many times must a man look upBefore he can see the skyHow many years must one man haveBefore he can hear people cryHow many deaths will it take till he knowsThat too many people have diedThe answer, my friend, is blowing in the windThe answer is blowing in the wind
Lyrics for Song: Fightin' Side of MeI hear people talkin' bad, About the way we have to live here in this country,Harpin' on the wars we fight, An' gripin' 'bout the way things oughta be.An' I don't mind 'em switchin' sides, An' standin' up for things they believe in.When they're runnin' down my country, man, They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me. Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.Runnin' down the way of life,Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.If you don't love it, leave it:Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.If you're runnin' down my country, man,You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.I read about some squirrely guy,Who claims, he just don't believe in fightin'.An' I wonder just how long,The rest of us can count on bein' free. They love our milk an' honey,But they preach about some other way of livin'.When they're runnin' down my country, hoss,They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.Runnin' down the way of life,Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.If you don't love it, leave it:Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.If you're runnin' down my country, man,You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.Runnin' down the way of life,Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.If you don't love it, leave it:Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.If you're runnin' down my country, man,You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
