  2. INDIVIDUAL ACTION IS NOT CHURCH ACTION A. The Body = The Church (Col. 1:24). The Body = Many Members (1 Cor. 12:14). Therefore, The Church = Many Members! I. AN INDIVIDUAL IS NOT A CHURCH. B. When the husband loves his wife (Eph. 5:25), is this church action? C. When the father corrects his children (Eph. 6:4), is this church action? D. Individual Responsibility (1 Tim. 5:16)!

  3. INDIVIDUAL ACTION IS NOT CHURCH ACTION A. Four Christians (Matt. 18:15-17). B. Misapplication of Mt. 18:20. - “Bind & Loose” of apostolic work (18:18) II. A GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS IS NOT A CHURCH. - Requests made by apostles (18:19). - See Jn 20:22-23; 2 Cor. 2:10; 5:20. - Does NOT mean if you pray with another Christian a local church is formed! C. Two Christians (Acts 16:19-40).

  4. INDIVIDUAL ACTION IS NOT CHURCH ACTION A. “Whatever the individual can do, the church can do!” - Used to justify CHURCH supported organizations (1 Tim. 3:15; 5:16). III. MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT INDIVIDUAL & CHURCH ACTIVITY - Used to support CHURCH hosted social events (1 Cor. 11:34). B. “Whatever the church can do, the individual can do!” - When take L.S. (1 Cor. 11:17, 18, 20)? - Why not collection, too (1 Cor. 16:1-2)?

  5. INDIVIDUAL ACTION IS NOT CHURCH ACTION INDIVIDUAL CHURCH Spiritual (Acts 16:5). Spiritual (Acts 2:42). L.S. (1 Cor. 11:17ff). III. MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT INDIVIDUAL & CHURCH ACTIVITY Work (1 Th. 4:11-12). Offering (1 Cor. 16:1f). Family (1 Tim. 5:8). General Benevolence (Gal. 6:10). Limited Benevolence (1 Tim. 5:16). Common Things: Social, Entertainment, Politics, Etc. (1 Cor. 10:27). NOT Common, But Separate (1 Cor. 11:34).

  6. INDIVIDUAL ACTION IS NOT CHURCH ACTION A. There Is A Distinction Between Individual Action & Church Action. B. There Is A Distinction Between A Group Of Individuals Acting & Church Action. CONCLUSION: C. Some Items Overlap, Others Are Only In The Realm Of The Individual or Only Of The Church. Grow In Knowledge (2 Peter 3:16-18)!

  7. The Force Of A Positive Command AUTHORITY: POSITIVE & NEGATIVE Acts 13:39 BELIEVE Do we Acts 17:30 REPENT need a Mk. 16:16 BAPTISM negative? To SUBTRACT from God’s word is a SIN! (Deut. 4:2; Ezk. 3:10; Rev. 22:18-19) When God gives a POSITIVE command will we accept it?

  8. EXCEPT... “Ye believe… shall die” (John 8:24). “Ye repent… shall perish” (Luke 13:3). “Ye be born again… not enter into the kingdom of God” (John 3:3, 5). Here is your negative statement about baptism! I wonder if all will accept it?
