Mortifying Monday By Leanne Borg Gauci
Thunder rumbled and lightning struck! It was quarter past seven and I was going to be late for school!
I slowly trudged down the stairs as I was dead tired. I heard the pitter-patter of rain on the windowsill. Breakfast wasn’t ready and my family hadn’t left anything for me. There wasn’t even time for a shower which would have felt quite refreshing since I felt as sticky as glue.
I quickly went to dress up on an empty stomach when suddenly, I heard the school bus outside and the driver beeping the horn loudly! After dressing up, I snatched my bag, wore my raincoat and ran out to see if the bus was still there but it was too late – I had missed it! Not noticing that I was wearing my slippers, I decided to walk to school.
The weather wasn’t kind to me. It was raining cats and dogs. On my way to school, water was seeping through my bag and by then I was drenched ! I kept my fingers crossed that nothing else would happen but … oh no … on the school step there was a muddy puddle that I didn’t see and I ended up slipping on it!
The school bell rang and I went into class feeling miserable and I spent the rest of the day all alone !!!
