  1. Earth Day Lucas Armbrester

  2. Table of Contents • Benefits of Conservation • Air Pollution • Windmills • Solar Panels • Hydroelectric Dams • Energy-Efficient Cars • Car Pooling • Fluorescent Lightbulbs

  3. Benefits of Conservation • Reduces Labor, Saves Time • Saves Fuel • Reduces Machinery Wear • Increases Wildlife • Improves Air Quality • Improves Water Quality Back to table of contents

  4. Air Pollution • Many asthma cases have come from pollution. • Coal-fired electric power plants still exist. • Release thousands of tons of sulfur dioxide. • Urban areas are highly effected. • Carbon Dioxide is a contributor to pollution. Back to table of contents

  5. Windmills • Windmills generate natural energy. • Need multitudes of wind to push blades. • Use generators to capture energy. • Are placed in the open plains area. • Provide energy to many cities and towns. Back to table of contents

  6. Solar Panels • Solar Panel capture the sun’s energy. • Generators keep the energy. • Provide small amounts of energy. • Are placed facing the sunlight. • Very expensive to purchase. Back to table of contents

  7. Hydroelectric Dams • Hydroelectric Dams use water to generate power. • Have huge turbines to capture water energy. • Capture energy in generators. • Are placed along flowing rivers. Back to table of contents

  8. Energy-Efficient Cars • Energy-efficient cars cut down on pollution. • Release less carbon dioxide into the air. • Use many batteries. • Uses a small gasoline engine. • Uses less gasoline than a normal engine. • Require to be charged up. Back to table of contents http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_swyzpZVC8Vg/SPra04uKv0I/AAAAAAAAAAs/crNzvIksDsA/S220/honda+hybrid.gif

  9. Car-Pooling • Car-pooling cuts down on air pollution. • Cheaper costs for the individuals. • Less wear and tear on vehicle. • Greener way to conserve energy. Back to table of contents http://hotfrogcreative.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/russian_carpooljpg.jpeg

  10. Fluorescent Lightbulbs • Fluorescent lightbulbs conserve electrical energy. • Last up to five times longer. • Take longer to heat up. • Helps the energy companies. Back to table of contents http://www.ipaa.org/Blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/cfl_bulb_mercury3.jpg
