History of UB • Dositej Obradović founded the College in 1808 • The Lyceum was founded in Kragujevac in 1838 and transferred to Belgrade in 1841 • Lyceum was transformed into the The Higher School in 1863 • Early in 1905, the Act on Universities was enacted • During the II World War University of Belgrade was closed

  3. UB Today • UB is a state university • UB has 2.539 teachers (1731 professors, 808 associate professors), 2.411 teacher assistant and 2.807 non-teaching staff • More than 90.000 students • 31 faculties, divided into four councils of the faculty groups
