Isaac Asimov’s 3 Laws of Robotics • A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. • A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

  13. Challenges • Each day will have at least one guided challenge. • In these challenges you will have to work in groups to accomplish a specific task. • Each task will be different and will involve increasingly more knowledge of the NXTs and how to program them.

Free Design • There will also be time on Tuesday – Thursday for all of you to create and design your own Mindstorm creations • You MAY need to work in partners to ensure there are enough NXT bricks to go around. • If you are unsure of what you want to free design, there are also additional challenges available. Such as “Design a Robot that Hates Light”

  15. The Robotics Store • For each challenge you will receive a “budget” • Each piece will have a certain monetary value associated with it.

The Robotics Store Rules for the Store: • Budgets are non-transferable. • This means that you can not trade budget between groups • You also can not transfer budgets between projects. • You CAN earn additional budget for your projects by: • Winning challenges • Instructors can also award budget to campers for: • Good behaviour • Keeping a clean workstation • And More!

The Robotics Store • Budget can also be lost. • Losing or Misplacing pieces will result in that cost being taken away from a later project. • To ensure no budget is lost return all of your pieces after a challenge. • Budget losses will also accompany any strikes a camper may receive throughout the week.

Robotics Store • Free Design: • During the Free Design portion, campers will have nearly unlimited access to pieces. • Some pieces may be limited due to not having enough pieces to go around for everyone. • However it is expected that you sign out pieces as you take them out and return them after you are done. • Failure to do so may result in budget losses.

  19. Robotics Store Prices: • Piece Prices will be posted at the start of each challenge. • Prices are subject to change throughout the challenge. • DURING a challenge prices will only decrease. • BETWEEN challenges prices can be changed in either direction
