Today! • I have come to thank the members of the Senate and indeed the entire staff of the University… • I take cognizance of my need to provide effective leadership in order to achieve my vision and mission. • I have been receiving the excellent support of the governing council ; I also need the support and cooperation of the University Senate ,for the great tasks at hand • I have therefore come to share with you, not only my Vision and Mission, but also my plan of action ( My Agenda)

My Agenda 3: SUSTAINABLE FUNDING AND FUND MANAGEMENT • Will sustain the very commendable fund sourcing strategies • Will maintain the culture of aggressive and proactive sourcing for funds and transparent and time-effective utilization of fund. • Our strategy will include ensuring transparency and blocking leakages associated with procurements. • Shall follow DUE-PROCESSESS in all operations.
My Agenda 4: RESEARCH • Improve the quality and enhance the relevance of the research outputs • Create an enabling academic environment on university campuses, an environment that can attract and retain a constellation of research scholars. • Encourage every College and Department to develop their research focus and these must be responsive to our societal developmental needs. • Give distinctive functions to IFSERAR, CENIP and DGM and challenge them to provide good support to our research, linkages and innovation programs • Promote mentoring and capacity building for young researchers • Encouraged to formulate our Institutional Research Policy, while making Colleges , Institutes to be focussed in their research activities. • Show enough leadership and courage to give direction on where we want to make our mark of excellence in research. • Will put in place active Funding and Fund Sourcing Strategies
My Agenda 5:TEACHING FOR MEANINGFUL LEARNING: Appropriate skills and competences that our graduates must acquire Continue to provide appropriate technical, ICT and logistic facilities for teaching. Promote systematic exposure of our teachers to pedagogy that will facilitate their being exposed to new and emerging learning systems Promote students’ counselling and mentoring
My Agenda: 6 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND WIDENING OF PARTICIPATION • Community Farming Scheme • International Students Program • FUNAAB Radio • Community-Based and Community-Focussed Research • Community –University Joint Activities. • Teaching that involves the community • Students-Community Engagements • Proactive Students Leadership and Empowerment Programs.
My Agenda 7: COLLABORATION , PARTNERSHIP ANDINTERNATIONALIZATION. International collaboration and partnership to promote the capacity building of our teaching and administrative staff for them to be able to deliver international services. • Will ensure that our internationalization policy is pursued with vigour and make FUNAAB a place of choice in Nigeria for international students and scholars. Strategic. • Internationalized Classrooms: • INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARS EXCHANGE CENTRE • Develop international level working and research facilities, and create an enabling academic/ intellectual environment • The Institute for Human Resources Development (INHURD) will continue to provide part-time, diploma and pre-degree programs. In addition, they will be made to serve as the centre for our in-house staff development strategy.
My Agenda 8: EXCELLENT STAFF WELFARE AND MANAGEMENT Our Management Support Strategies • Increased revenue generating activities and cost effective and efficient administrative units. • In-House and External Leadership and career training programs. • Improvement in the facilities and infrastructures, • Maintenance and improvement of the environment. • Access to transparent and efficient administrative systems for students. • ICT strategy and facilities that will support our focus. • Long term growth and viability of Endowments. • Recognition and reward of performance excellence • Resource alignment for our priorities. We will be proactive in treating staff welfare issues, Will employ constant dialogue, and aggressive information exchange system, Respect, honesty, transparency and fairness without compromising discipline and due process in all staff matters. RBM approach - defining clear goals, objectives, and expected outcomes with processes for M&E of results.
My Agenda 9: CAMPUS DEVELOPMENT AND SECURITY Proactive in visioning for new infrastructural developments. Maintain the good reputation with TETFUNDS in project execution and timely delivery. Explore Public-Private Partnership Strict adherence to Due process (a) Fire Station, (b) Sewage to Waste Processing Plant, (c) Turbine Electricity Generating Plant; (d) Standard University Bookshop and Printing Press (e) New Access and Intra-Campus Roads; (f) Expanded academic and support facilities (g) Expanded Student housing, (h) Expanded facilities for health, welfare and recreational activities, (i) Expanded indoor and outdoor sporting facilities. (j) Expanded facilities for graduate students and research staff, (k) New ICT facilities for new modes of learning
Agenda 9(b): SECURITY Good support to the Security Committee Prompt attention to security reports Continuous training for Existing Private Security Outfit with the Environmental Officers. Electronic Surveillance in strategic locations. 5. Cooperate with local Baales and Obas and the police with respect to the challenge of fulani herdsmen and incursions of illegal settlers in the University land 6. Promote community watch in the outskirts 7. Zero tolerance for Cultism and other vices
Agenda 10: WORLD CLASS OPERATIONAL STANDARD MODELS • Strategic planning, • Result-Based Mgt and Regular M & E • Transformational leadership at all levels. Elimination of primordial loyalty and the entrenchment of meritocracy Strict adherence to transparency in all transactions Free flow of information at all levels of institutional governance. Systematic leadership and mgt training for staff and students Functional mechanisms for the participation of all – students, all categories of staff, alumni, civil society, etc in various decision-making bodies

(a) Students Welfare and Empowerment: Ensure cordial relationship by a policy of honesty, transparency, fairness and adherence to due process. Will not tolerate cultism , indiscipline and other vices, Will ensure the integrity of our degrees by having zero-tolerance for examination malpractices. Curricula will be reviewed to ensure skills, and competences required of the students of the 21st Century are inculcated . • Uninterrupted Municipal services • 24 hour library program. • Prompt release of examination results. • Adequate health care delivery services • Recognition and non-interference with students’ democratic process • Regular maintenance of the hostels • Provision of transportation as a social service. • Students‘ counselling services. • Recreational facilities • Students’ welfare clubs and leadership organizations. • Direct and informal interaction with the students by the Administration
