Agenda • Purpose and Objectives • Background • Data Collection Process • Survey Findings • Conclusions • Action Plan
Survey Purpose and Objectives Purpose: • Determine the interest of the CNOs in the state to establish an ongoing forum. Objectives: • Survey the CNOs in the state to determine their level of interest in meeting on a regular basis. • Share the results with the WVONE Officers and Board to determine the next steps. • Develop an Action Plan based on the results. • With the approval of the Officers and Board, share the results with the Future of Nursing WV.
Background • As a result of our Strategic Planning session, the Officers and Board members of WVONE agreed to survey the CNOs in the state to determine their interest in establishing a CNO forum. • Due to the rurality of the state, it has been difficult for CNOs to attend the WVONE annual conference. The WVONE Board has encouraged CNO membership during the last five years. • Research demonstrates that gaining CNO support for organizational membership is key to acquiring other leaders in the organization.
Data Collection Process • The survey was distributed May 1st to May 15th, 2015 using the WVONE CNO email distribution list. • Data were collected using a Survey Monkey link sent to 47 CNOs. Surveys were returned from 20 respondents yielding a response rate of 43%. • Completed surveys were reviewed and open ended questions were analyzed for themes.

Use WVONE Annual meeting as one meeting Divide into subgroups based on facility size Have a theme and move it around the state Intraprofessional models of care Consider webinars for meetings One day Forums Include large and small hospitals Get speakers on topics of interest As a new CNO, I need this
Conclusions: • All of the respondents were interested in establishing a CNO Forum and identified purposes for a bi-annual meeting. • The majority of respondents want to meet twice a year. • Five CNOs and two organizations volunteered to host the CNO Forum. • The respondents identified topics of interest including leadership development and nurse residency programs. • The respondents suggested moving the Forum around the state to gain participation.
