  1. Advances in dental care have evolved throughout the years.

  2. Here are 4 new technologies in dental care that we have implemented in our practice.

  3. SOPHISTICATED LASERS

  4. We use lasers in soft tissue surgeries for problems like: • Gingivitis • Periodontal disease and some other issues.

  5. Do you fear the drill?

  6. Talk to us about laser use to remove cavities – we’ll let you know if it’s right in your situation.

  7. Lasers tend to produce less pain and we use less anesthesia with them.

  8. HIGH-TECH X-RAYS

  9. Our office has replaced traditional radiographs with digitized X-rays.

  10. Digital X-rays are not only faster than traditional radiographs, but they are also far more effective.

  11. The primary purpose of this new technology is to located cavities; however, they are also often used to check the support of the bone under the tooth and the placement of an implant.

  12. These tasks are only accomplished if the digital X-ray is used correctly.

  13. Instead of firmly positioning film in the mouth, the technician must place the electronic sensor or phosphor plate correctly to receive an excellent image of the patient’s mouth.

  14. The next step is to send the digital image to a scanner for viewing. We use specific techniques for digital x-ray processing so we can view the image and address a patient’s dental issues.

  15. CAD/CAM TECHNOLOGY

  16. Also referred to as computer-assisted design and computer-assisted manufacture, CAD/CAM Technology is a new dental advancement that makes crowns and bridges quickly.

  17. Before the release of this technology, we had to rely on a dental laboratory to produce a crown from a mold.

  18. After drilling the tooth to prepare for crown placement, CAD/CAM technology enables us to snap a picture of the area.

  19. The image is then sent to a machine that creates the crown in the comfort of our office.

  20. ORAL APPLIANCES FOR SLEEP APNEA

  21. We understand that some patients just cannot tolerate using PAP therapy. As an alternative treatment, we offer oral appliances.

  22. These are custom made to fit your mouth, and their main purpose is to keep your airway open during sleep.

  23. This prevents your airway from collapsing, which blocks the normal flow of air.
