Starting Out! • Open Luis’s document and save it with a new name. • Open the Greek Mythology document and save it as Greek Mythology4. Unit 1 Project 4

TRAIL MARKER 1Using the Format Painter • Format important words using the Format Painter. • Click the Home tab on the Ribbon, if necessary, and locate the Font and Clipboard groups. • Click the word myth in the first sentence of the first body paragraph on the first page to select it. Apply the Bold font style. • Click the Format Painter button. • Scroll to view the last sentence of the third body text paragraph on page 1. Drag the I-beam with the paintbrush icon across the words epic poems in the sentence to paint the Bold font style. Unit 1 Project 4

Do not select the period. Apply the Underline font style. • Click the Format Painter button. • Drag across the Trickster Myth: Eris. paragraph heading in the following paragraph. Do not drag across the period. Deselect the text and save the document. Unit 1 Project 4
TRAIL MARKER 2Finding and Replacing Text • Find a word and replace it. • Tap the CTRL + HOME keys to move the insertion point to the top of the document. Click the Replace button in the Editing Group to open the Find and Replace dialog box. • Key time-honoredin the Find what text box and tap the TABkey. • Key traditionalin the Replace with text box. The word is replaced. No more instances of the word are found. Click the OK button and click the Close button. • Save the document. Unit 1 Project 4

TRAIL MARKER 3Creating Tabbed Columns • Set Center tab stops. • Move the insertion point to the end of the second body text paragraph ending such as: on page 1. • Display formatting marks, if necessary. • Tap the ENTER key to create a new paragraph. • Click the Tab Indicator button to the left of the Horizontal Ruler until the Center tab stop icon appears. • Move the mouse pointer to the 1-inch position on the Horizontal Ruler and click to insert a Center tab stop. Set Center tab stops at the 2-inch and 3-inch positions. Unit 1 Project 4

TRAIL MARKER 3Creating Tabbed Columns • Remove unwanted Center tab stops, set new Left tab stops, and type the text. • Point to the first Center tab stop on the Horizontal Ruler. Press and hold the mouse button and drag the tab stop downward off the ruler. Drag the remaining two Center tab stops off the ruler. • Click the Tab Indicatorbutton until the Left tab icon appears. Move the mouse pointer to the Horizontal Ruler and set Left tab stops at the 0.75-inch, the 1.75-inch, and the 2.75-inch positions. (continued) Unit 1 Project 4

Tap the ENTER key. • Continue to use the TAB key and type the remaining four tabbed paragraphs. • Apply the Bold font style to the column headings. (continued) Unit 1 Project 4
TRAIL MARKER 3Creating Tabbed Columns • Remove unwanted Center tab stops, set new Left tab stops, and type the text. • Select the column headings and all the tabbed paragraphs except the last one (the Achilles paragraph). • Click the Home tab, if necessary, and locate the Paragraph group. • Click the Line and Paragraph Spacing button in the Paragraph group to view the menu. • Click Remove Space After Paragraph. • Deselect the text and save the document. TRAIL MARKER 4Creating a Report Title Page • Create a title page. • Tap the CTRL + HOME keys to move the insertion point to the top of the document, if necessary. • Click the Insert tab and locate the Pages group. • Click the Cover Page button in the Pages group to display a gallery of preformatted cover page options. Scroll to view the option near the bottom of the gallery. • Select and delete the Company field placeholder. • Select the [Type the document subtitle] field placeholder. • Key Explorers Club in the placeholder. • Select the Author field placeholder near the bottom of the title page. • Select the contents of the placeholder, if necessary, and key Luis Gonzales. TRAIL MARKER 5Citing Sources on a Separate Page • Use Click and Type to position the insertion point and then cite sources. • Move the I-beam pointer below the formatted title and double-click to insert a new blank line. If you accidentally insert more than one blank line, delete the extra lines. • Key your first source and then tap the ENTER key. Change the case of Pp. to pp., if necessary. • Key your second source. • Save the document. Unit 1 Project 4

TRAIL MARKER 6Working in Multiple Document Sections • Add the Section indicator to the status bar, if necessary, and review document sections. • Right-click the status bar to display the Customize Status Bar menu. • Click Section, if necessary, to add the indicator to the status bar and tap the ESC key. • Tap the CTRL + HOME keys to move the insertion point to the top of the title page. The Section and Page indicators on the status bar show that the insertion point is located in Section 1 on page 1 of 4. (continued) Unit 1 Project 4

The insertion point is located in Section 1 on Page 2 of 4. • Move the insertion point to the top of page 3. The insertion point is located in Section 1 on Page 3 of 4. • Move the insertion point to the top of the References page. The insertion point is located in Section 2 on Page 4 of 4. TRAIL MARKER 6Working in Multiple Document Sections • Change the left margin for each section. • Move the insertion point into Section 1 at the top of page two. • Click the Margins button in the Page Setup group. • Click Custom Margins to open the Page Setup dialog box. • Set a 1.5-inch Left margin. Click OK. • Move the insertion point into Section 3 at the top of page four. Set a 1.5-inch Left margin. • Save the document. Unit 1 Project 4

Drag the slider icon on the Zoom Slider to the left until you can see all four pages of the document in Page Layout view. • Verify that all pages have the same 1.5-inch left margin and 1-inch right and bottom margin. Verify that pages 2 and 4 have a 2-inch top margin and that page 3 has a 1-inch bottom margin. • Zoom the document back to 100%. Unit 1 Project 4

TRAIL MARKER 6Working in Multiple Document Sections • Number the pages. • Move the insertion point into Section 2 at the top of page three. • Double-click the white area above the text to open the Header area and to display the Header & Footer Tools Design tab on the Ribbon. TRAIL MARKER 6Working in Multiple Document Sections • Number the pages. • Click the Link to Previous button in the Navigation group to turn off the linking between document sections. • Click the Page Number button in the Header & Footer group, point to Top of Page, and click Plain Number 3 in the gallery. Now set the starting page number for Section 2, page 3 at 2, the second report page. • Click the Page Number button in the Header & Footer group. • Click Format Page Numbers to open the Page Number Format dialog box. TRAIL MARKER 6Working in Multiple Document Sections • Number the pages. • Click the Start at option button, key 2 in the text box, and click OK. • Move the insertion point into the header area for Section 3, the References page. • Change the starting page number to 3, if necessary. • Click the Close Header and Footer button in the Close group to close the header area. • Zoom the document to see all four pages. • Zoom back to 100%. Save the document and close it. Unit 1 Project 4
