Arizona FLL – The Numbers 2013 Season: • 30% Annual Growth in Participation • 300 Teams State-wide • 13 Regional Tournaments Phoenix, Chandler, Scottsdale, Mesa, Flagstaff, Tucson Yuma, Sierra Vista, Winslow • 1 State Championship Tournament • 1,000 Volunteers
FLL Challenge Teams of 3-10 children, ages 9-14, guided by at least 1 adult coach, have 8-12 weeks to: Complete an annual Challenge: • Project Presentation (1/3 of Score) • Analyze, research, and invent a solution on the season theme • Develop a creative presentation about the solution and deliver it to a panel of judges • Robot Interview + Performance (1/3 of Score) • Build an autonomous robot that completes, in 2-1/2 minutes, pre-designed missions • Share with judges what the team has learned by solving problems using robotics • Demonstrate Core Values (1/3 of Score) • Emphasize respect, integrity, friendly sportsmanship and community involvement
