International collaborationsuitable for combining research efforts in common research project, coordinated projects or test bed (*) • System architecture development offers the opportunity of sharing knowledge on: • quantification of DER benefits in different regions • the alternatives proposed by regional teams, • best practices, different ideas, projects being developed, etc. • Support and develop an interoperability framework and related standards in conjunction with international standards organizations. • Collaboration in enabling technologies and new energy services, such as remote control of appliances responding to inputs like prices or frequency, with close ties to industry. Final remarks • There is good agreement on the direction to follow. • It will take time, but actors in running initiatives have already proven to have the technical ability. • To find the human & financial resources: • Public Authorities and Regulators should create an environment which supports innovation. • Coordination and collaboration need to be stepped up, at all levels. Mutual topics for international collaboration should be reinforced and jointly exploited. • Smart Energy Networks should be made more attractive for students and young researchers at national and international levels.
