  2. Documentary Modes • They are used to establish the codes and conventions • The different modes of documentaries are: • Expository • Observational • Participatory • Reflexive • Performative

Film language to Shape realism • Documentaries use different techniques to make it as real as possible and get the audience placed into the action that is going on, the different techniques are: • Natural lighting • Location shooting • Voiceovers • Archive Footage • Handheld Camera Work • Interviews

Different shots • Introductory Shot – An introducing Interview but showing them doing something other than being interviewed • General View – Establishing shot or a wide shot where the action is taking place • Wallpaper Shot – Is a shot to fill up any time if there is voiceover that is longer than the footage it is showing • Geography Shot – Location Shot • Cut Away – Used to shorten an interview

  5. Touching the Void • Touching the Void is Drama Documentary. • The was quite a few techniques used, they used different types of shots to show the extreme challenges that were faced. The different music types in different situations made more tension • They Use all the different shots: • Introductory Shot • General Views • Wallpaper Shots • Geography Shots • Cut Away

The Secret Millionaire • The Secret Millionaire is Investigative Documentary about a millionaire who investigates other peoples lives in order to make them wealthier that will help them out a lot. • They Use all the different shots: • Introductory Shot • General Views • Wallpaper Shots • Geography Shots • Cut Away • These shots are used to construct most the documentary with voiceovers to explain what is going on in the footage shown
