  1. Tangible User Interfaces RichaTripathi Neha VikasGoyal

  2. Pin&Play&Perform It is a system designed to increase the flexibility and usability of a normal digital music mixer by making a augmented surface which provides data connectivity and physical supports to interactive tangible artifacts which can be easily added and removed from the system Sketch-A-TUI Low-fi physical prototyping approach for designers having no electrical knowledge and hardware experience but some coding experience. It requires cardboard forms and conductive ink to create tangibles to be used on capacitive touch surfaces. Illuminating light It is a well-designed optics workbench which is simulated by movements of objects and projection from an input output bulb.

  3. TUI Domain Ping&Play&Perform : Audio mixing/composition tangibles units Sketch-a-TUI : Tangibles on capacitive touch surfaces Illuminating light: Computer augmented environment Graspable interfaces

  4. Possible application areas- Pin&Play&Perform - It could be used in large no. of domains, replacing the standard arrow keys with the sliders or rotators ( whenever there is a maximum or minimum value for a particular function.) Sketch a TUI – Basically used to simplify low-fi prototyping for designers (Hands –on experience) Illuminating light - School environment and laboratories, collaborative workplace and environments.

  5. Parameters Pin&Play&Perform Graspable Interface Multifunction Alteration at the same time Multiuser System Recognizable operations Sketch a TUI: Graspable physical objects, tactile/touch based, screen based output, predefined computed behavior, orientation based differentiation, tracking touch points. Illuminating light: Objects corresponding to real optical objects like lenses, holographic films, mirrors etc. detection through glimpser programme, and simulation toolkit like voodoo Projection

  6. Interaction Point and Styles Pin&Play&Perform: Mixing the various audios through sliders Controlling volume, bass by rotation Adding and removing controls on a physical boards that get added digitally automatically (virtual node) Sketch a TUI : Input – Holding actions/touch, lifting and placing, rotation Output-GUI /screen based (Android/ipad screens) Illuminating light: Response can be simulated by changing the position and orientation of graspable components.

  7. Positives and Negatives Pin&Play&Perform: Positives: Flexibility, Affordability, No restrictions, direct manipulations, Recognizable operations, improves usability Negatives: It is a complimentary to the current input system. Does not function independently Sketch a TUI Positives: Assembling objects, Stacking, relative position and association of sides, collaborative design, rapid and easy, cost effective, easily available Negatives: Limited no. of touch points, small screen size, inadequate ink, some styles of holding cannot be distinguished Illuminating Light: Positives: Reduces time, associated with Actual physical model stimulated virtual experience Negative : It sometimes reduces accuracy
