  4. ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS AS AN URBAN PERSON What does it mean to you?

  5. Imagine • A YEAR WITHOUT TOILET PAPER • (mostly) no shopping for anything except food • producing no trash (except compost) • using no carbon-fueled transportation

Zero Impact Family- Colin and Michelle, Isabelle Beavan “That’s the thing about this current wave of environmentalism,” he continued. “It’s not about, how do we protect some abstract pristine space? It’s what can real people do in their home or office or whatever. It’s also very urban. It’s a critical twist in the old wilderness adage: Leave only footprints, take only photographs. But how do you translate that into Manhattan?”

  8. What you do daily is more important While it is nice to protect pristine nature, it is equally or even more important to manage the daily environmental impacts of your life or club activities.

  14. WHAT MORE CAN YOU DO FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AS A CLUB ? More environmentally responsible things that you can do but some will bring inconvenience.

Doing more as a environmentally responsible club • Ask your camp participants to bring their own spoon and fork and water bottle – for camps. • Get more vegetarian food for your catering • Bring elderly or other disadvantaged, for nature walks. Can apply for club bonding sessions as well. • Rinse your plastic containers after meals and recycle them – for camps Increasing level of difficulty

My personal rules on vegetables (meat out) • At least a vege meal once a day. • Ask Vege when on course or function • Indulge at mass meals with family and friends • Indulge at special food spots e.g. Changi Village As a club either for catering or for camp participants: LESS MEAT , MORE VEGE
