  1. Alka-selzer and Vinegar • Experiment Setup • Using PASCO’s Advanced Chemistry Sensor makes it easy to quantity and analyze reactions in solution. • Place pH, Conductivity and Stainless Steel Temperature probes into aBeaker with ~60 mL vinegar and ~60 mL Distilled water • Monitor Home Screen (to show all possible measurement types). • Build page withpH v. Time, pH Digits and text box displays • START collecting data. • Add Alka-Seltzer • After reaction STOP data and show Temp v Time and Conductivity v Time • Create a multiple-y axis display of temp, pH and Conductivity v. Time • Highlights • Mutlimeasure sensor with simultaneous measurements of pH, temperature and conductivity • Incorporation of content topics such as thermochemistry, stoichiometry, electrolytes, and acids and bases • Multiple Y-axis graphing • Featured Products • Advanced Chemistry Sensor (PS-2172)

  2. Blue Dye and Bleach • Experiment Setup • Using PASCO’s Colorimetrer makes it easy to quantity and analyze colored solutions and the rates of reactions • Blank the colorimeter with a cuvette of distilled water • Monitor Home screen (to show all possible measurement types) • Fill the beaker with blue dye, and then fill the cuvette with the blue food dye from the beaker. • Insert cuvette into colorimeter • Select appropriate wavelength based on Absorbance (Abs) data. • Build a page of Abs v Time and Abs digits of selected wavelength • Add 3-mL of bleach to the beaker • Fill a second cuvette with the Blue Dye w/ bleach • Insert into colorimeter and START collecting data • Create new calculated data of natural log of Absorbance and and 1/Abs • Create new graphs of lnAbs, 1/Abs and Abs v Time • Use linear fit tool find straightest line • Highlights • Mutlimeasure sensor with simultaneous measurements of Absorbance and Transmittance • Incorporation of content topics such as Beer’s Law and Kinetics. • Displaying Calculated Data • Multiple Y-axis graphing • Featured Products • Colorimeter (PS-2121)
