Oyabu ’ s view of FIS all-sky survey. Shinki Oyabu (ISAS/JAXA). Oyabu ’ s Sample. Bright Source Catalog (BSC) Beta-1 |b|>30° for extragalactic studies, β>-80° in order to exclude LMC objects, & Also excluded sources in 1.5°in radius from SMC. 3637 sources remain in my sample. VS. 2MASS.

  1. Oyabu’s view of FIS all-sky survey Shinki Oyabu (ISAS/JAXA)

  2. Oyabu’s Sample • Bright Source Catalog (BSC) Beta-1 • |b|>30° for extragalactic studies, • β>-80° in order to exclude LMC objects, & • Also excluded sources in 1.5°in radius from SMC. • 3637 sources remain in my sample.

  3. VS. 2MASS • Matching with 2MASS PSC & EXTENDED (DVD & Web). • 10 arcsec in radius. • 128 BSC sources can not find a 2MASS counterpart. • We checked 211 DSS images and separated extended galaxies (including HII region in galaxies) and mysterious sources. • 65 mysterious sources. • Moving objects • Two of them are Uranus and Neptune. • Some of them have a faint counterpart in optical. • We also checked SIMBAD for these, but there are no reports.

  4. VS. IRAS PSC • 100 arcsec search radius • 297 sources un-matched • Most of them are located in IRAS GAP. • Some of them also does not have a 2MASS counterpart. • Some of them are fainter than the limit of IRAS PSC. • Non-counterparts on 2MASS do not have IRAS PSC counterparts.

  5. Small + AKARI w/o IRAS PSC Yellow ○ AKARI w/o 2MASS

  6. Oyabu’s thoughts • Their positions are quite good, • There are a few of exceptions…… • Fluxes look OK for me….. • But I don’t do any serious check. • Please remove moving objects…. • I want to know that there are some candidates of optically faint sources or not.

  7. We need quantitative discussions. • AKARI has longer wavelength than IRAS. • If dust temperature is ~20K, the energy peak is around 150 um. This is good time to recalculate the infrared luminosity of galaxies. • Most of IRAS bright galaxies have a redshift. • We can make a check of the completeness using a <V/VMAX >test.

  8. Proposal • It’s time to harvest some scientific results. • At least, we are ready to carry out studies of infrared galaxies. • We can combine them with IRAS data, • We know most of their redshift, & • We got data in IRAS gap. • Please review current PS proposals and find persons to promote science.
