  2. simile Simile-Using like or as to compare2 or more things. Ex.1-as white as a ghost Ex. 2-as easy as a. b. c.

  3. Metaphor • Metaphor-Comparing 2 things without using like or as; something else. • Ex.1-They carried out their agenda. An agenda is a vehicle powered by (their) will. Ex.2-I’m dying to meet her. Desire equals (slow) death.

  4. Hyperbole • Using exaggeration to make a point. Ex.1- Her eyes was blue as the sea. Ex.2- she snores loud as a train.

  5. Onamatopoeia • Onomatopoeia-sound word: bang, tic tock. • Ex.1-I just heard a bow wow. • Ex.2-my phone keeps beeping

  6. Alliteration • Alliteration -repetition of beginning sound: • Ex. 1- bumble bees buzzed by baseball bases. • Ex. 2- train tracks turns the train.

  7. Personification Personification- giving human qualites to something not human. Ex. 1- Trees was dancing in the wind. Ex. 2- The car winked at me.

  8. Idioms • Idioms- A well known expression that does not mean what it says : • Ex. 1- A piece of cake. • Ex. 2- All in the same boat.

  9. Practice Problems • 1. Her room is a junk yard. • 2. Her hair Is messy as a birds nest. • 3. It was a big bow wow in the yard. • 4. I’m so hungry I could eat a rat. • 5. The sun smiled at me this morning. • 6. His eye’s is bigger than his stomach. • 7. The black bear ate berries by the bay.
