Herman was born to George and Franciska Hollerith on February 29, in Buffalo, New York in 1860 His parents were immigrants from Germany He began school at the city college of Newyork at the age of 15 Graduated from the Columbia school of Mines with a “Engineer in Mines” degree in 1879
Continued • Also received a PH.D at Columbia University • In 1890,on September 15,he married Lucia Beverly Telcott • They had 3 sons and 3 daughters • Cherished 3 things during his lifespan; his German heritage, his privacy and his cat Bismarck."[
