Some important Achievements observed in Region • Bhaktapur has been practicing working on disability issues through a integrated district plan for last three years. • Sindhupalchowk is found very good in disability ID card distribution and (more than 4500 so far) and assistive device distribution. • Ramechap is practicing to include disability issues in the five years district plan of DDC.
Challenges Observed • Lack of integrated approach to work on CBR. (Basically in Local Resource Mobilization) • Low budget in CBR program • Delay in budget releasing and Frequent Changes of Government officer. • Problem of Detail Data on Disability. • Funding to develop human resource (CBR workers and managers) and their mobilization.
Possible Ways out • Practice of Integrated Plan on disability with the contribution of all stakeholders in the same integrated plan. • Increment in the budget of CBR to be supported by the Ministry of Women Children and Social Welfare. • Timely release of budget and monitoring from Ministry. • Effective information and database System in each district.
