  1. Bell Ringer Learning Target: I can graph the equation of a line from the intercepts. Rewrite from standard to slope intercept form: • 2x + 4y = 12 • -3x + 8y = 32

  2. X- and Y-Intercepts

  3. Standard Form Ax + By = C X-Intercept—where the line crosses the x-axis Y-Intercept—where the line crosses the y-axis

  4. X-intercept • Means y=0 • Step 1: “Cover” up y term • Step 2: rewrite equation without y term • Step 3: solve for x • This is your x-intercept • (x,0) • Y-intercept • Means x=0 • Step 1: “Cover” up x term • Step 2: rewrite equation without x term • Step 3: solve for y • This is your y-intercept • (0,y)

  5. X- and Y-Intercepts 3x + 4y = 24 X-InterceptY-Intercept

  6. X- and Y-Intercepts – 6y = 18 – x X-InterceptY-Intercept

  7. X- and Y-Intercepts y = 5x - 2 X-InterceptY-Intercept

  8. Homework Page 160 (21-28) Solve and Graph!
