Information about Hummingbirds • There are 16 species of Hummingbirds in North America and Canada • Hummingbirds are only found in the Americas • They are the smallest bird in the world • Hummingbirds are carnivores (nectar is just the fuel to power their flycatching activity) • They can beat their wings 60 to 200 times per second

  3. Hummingbirds in Motion Their flight speed averages 25-30 miles per hour They fly forward, backward, shift sideways, and stop in midair They ‘ve even been known to fly upside down !
