History • Dates back to 1896 in Europe. • Development for Europe was ignored for America. • Planners took ideas to America. • Population grew, planners were needed more.
Present • Important when developing a city. • If not developing, re-developing. • Different cities have different issues.
Champaign-Past • Champaign was full of corn fields. • Saw potential and acted on it. • Planners changed this place.
Champaign-Present • All of this area was corn. • Now, our downtown is fill on weekends.
Finding a Job • Job market will rise. • 15% increase within 4-6 years. • College degree needed. • High job competition, with few openings.
Future • Master’s degree needed for advancement. • Career always looking ahead. • Planner’s find ways to improve city. • Ex. Duncan Road, Stone Creek Park
Characteristics • Office work. • Meetings. • 9-5 job. • Travel is good.
Qualifications • Social, patient, speaker, problem-solver, and creativity. • At least a bachelor’s degree. • Internships are good. • Good looking.
