Glossary of Terms • PearsonAccess – www.pearsonaccess.com/fl • A website used for almost all test preparation (e.g., PreID), setup, administration, and reporting tasks. • Correct test administration must be selected each timeyou log in. • Requires a username and password. • Links to support materials: www.FLAssessments.com/SpringRMSwww.FLAssessments.com/AdditionalResources
Pearson Support and PearsonAccess • Contact Pearson Support • Phone Number: 1-877-847-3043 • Appendix C in the manual provides the following information: • PearsonAccess • User Accounts • District assessment coordinators received instructions for setting up user accounts from FDOE. • Browser requirements • Logging in for the first time • Resetting passwords • Training Center • Test Setup Exercise Note: PearsonAccess will timeout after 14 minutes of inactivity.
Glossary of Terms • Proctor Caching is a process of loading or “caching” test content locally on a computer at the school level. • Does not require a separate caching server and can run on any workstation on the network that meets minimum requirements. • Proctor Caching software is provided by Pearson. • Reduces test delays due to network congestion. • Provides students with a more seamless testing experience. • Required for all FCAT/EOC computer-based testing in Florida. • Proctor Caching Network Diagram
Glossary of Terms • TestNav 6.9 (TestNav) • Platform that Florida will use for high-stakes computer-based statewide assessments. • Software application installed either on a file server or on each computer that will be used for testing.
Spring 2011 Computer-BasedTest Administration Schedule Any deviation from this schedule requires written approval from the FDOEprior to implementation. These timings are not automatic (ie the system does not log a student off after 160 minutes) and must be timed by a test administrator
Reminders for Spring 2011Computer-Based Testing • Inappropriate actions by school or district personnel before, during, or after test administration may result in consequences such as test invalidations and/or loss of teaching certification. • Carefully read the Test Security Policies and Procedures to ensure that you are following the correct procedures. • District assessment coordinators must require school administrators, school assessment coordinators, test administrators, and proctors to sign an FCAT CBT Administration and Security Agreement. • Security of all test materials, including Student Authorization Tickets, must be maintained before, during, and after test administration. • Schools are required to maintain an accurate Security Log for each testing room.
As a District representative involved with FCAT testing you must sign a FCAT CBT Security Agreement and provide it to the Testing Coordinator at the school Security Agreement 9
Materials Needed for Testing • Student Authorization Tickets (secure materials) • Session/Test/Location • Student Name • Date of Birth • Student ID • Student Signature Line • URL • Login ID • Test Code (password) • Students need a Login ID and Test Code (password) for each test session. • Students need a pencil or pen to sign their tickets. • Do not print tickets before 3/9/2011

Conduct Practice Test (ePAT) • ALL students MUST complete a practice test to learn how to use the computer-based system. • Even students who participated in a Spring 2010 computer-based test MUST complete a practice test prior to the Spring 2011 administration. • Ensure that the following items have been downloaded to each computer that will be used for the practice test • ePAT Launcher • FCAT Reading and Mathematics Retake Practice Test • Script provided in manual.
Preparation of Testing Room • Ensure that all software applications, including Internet browsers, are closed on all student workstations. • Start TestNav and open each student workstation to the student login screen. • Ensure that you have a way to contact the technology coordinator or school coordinator during testing without leaving the room unattended. • Test Sessions have a unique six-digit test code (password) that will be printed on the Student Authorization Tickets and Session Roster. • Test Code (password) is used to access the test. • Test Group Code (4-digits) is used to identify groups of students tested together.
Problems accessing TestNav prior to testing Ensure that the appropriate link, username and password has been indicated in TestNav per the Student Authorization Ticket If you receive an Early Warning System (EWS) message, follow the prompts to resolve that issue. PearsonAccess – During Testing If the Internet connection is interrupted during testing: • Student will still be able to complete the test. • Student responses are automatically saved and, once Internet connection has been restored, will be sent to Pearson. • IF the Internet connection is not restored by the time the student has finished the test, the test administrator should contact the school assessment coordinator or technology coordinator for assistance. • If there are issues on a specific computer • Shut down the first computer and move student to another computer that has been properly set up for testing. • Student should be able to resume testing where he/she left off if the responses were saved to the network. • If a student cannot continue testing, document the issue and determine whether invalidation is appropriate.
Test AdministratorSupervise Test Administration • If a computer is disconnected from the test: • Contact the technology coordinator to help diagnose any technical issues • Contact the school assessment coordinator to resume student’s test in PearsonAccess If you have a Test Administrator account in PearsonAccess, you will be able to resume the student’s test and assist the student with logging in again.
PearsonAccess – During Testing Resume a Test Within TestNav’s Early Warning System (EWS) • Certain circumstances, such as loss of an Internet connection, trigger the EWS. • One of the following error messages may appear on a student’s computer during testing.
School Assessment CoordinatorPearsonAccess – During Testing Resume a Test Within TestNav’s EWS (continued) • Click the Test Proctor – Click Here button on the EWS warning screen and follow the on-screen directions. • Return to the Session Details screen and click Resume Test. • If a saved response file for the student is found, it will be uploaded to the testing server when the connection is reestablished and the student logs back in to TestNav. • If a saved response file is not found, TestNav will prompt the user to navigate to the location where the response file is saved so it can be uploaded. • The student can now log in to TestNav and restart the test. • Student status will return to Started after successfully re-entering the test. • Whenever possible, have the student log in to TestNav from the original workstation so that the student’s saved response file can be transmitted to the testing server if it was saved on the local student workstation.
Test AdministratorPearsonAccess – During Testing Resume Students’ Tests • Student exits TestNav (either unintentionally or intentionally) before completing a test. • School Coordinator or Test Administrator must resume the test before student can continue. • On Session Details screen, click the check box next to the name of the student. • Student cannot be resumed if he/she has a Ready, Submitted, or Marked Complete status. • Click Resume Test (resumes the student’s test from the point at which the test was interrupted). • System will upload any test responses that the student entered and that were saved. • Once the connection to the testing server is reestablished and the student is in Resumed-Upload status, the saved responses are transmitted to the testing server and added to the responses already stored there.
School Assessment CoordinatorPearsonAccess – During Testing Start Test Sessions • Test sessions must be started in PearsonAccess before students in the session can log in and begin taking the test. • FDOE recommends that sessions be started no earlier than the day before testing. • Click Start on the Session Details screen. • Click Yes – Start Session to confirm.
School Assessment CoordinatorPearsonAccess – During Testing Start Test Sessions (continued) • After a session is started, students can log in and begin testing. • A session does not stop until you click the Stop button, regardless of the value in the Estimated Duration field. • The system will not automatically start or stop a session. • Monitor the status of each student in a session. • Click Refresh button next to Status to update the real-time testing status of students.
