Desktop Publishing with MS Word Computational Thinking Presentation of Information with MS PowerPoint Making Info Available to the World with HTML and Web Pages New technology is always being developed. To use these new gadgets, computational thinking is a practice required to acquire a set of skills. Granted, becoming skilled in technology in the computer science world is no easy feat, with the problem solving skills learned in Computer Science & Engineering 3 at UCSD, minds, students are able to become more fluent in technology. With basic skills in HTML, web pages can easily be made and if there’s a server, can be uploaded onto the internet. With these set of skills, I was able to write HTML codes on notepad++, a useful program that makes codes a bit easier. I was also able to create hyperlinks in the websites I developed, whether it be from text or images. PowerPoint is a great way to show data through presentations. With data mapped in Excel, it can also be easily transferred to PowerPoint to create graphs and charts to display significant information. When people think of Microsoft Word, they tend not to think about how it can create a new, sleek looking presentation that can be uploaded online. With the tools accessible in Microsoft Word, creating titles and wrapping texts have never been any easier. CSE 3 Important Skills LearnedBy: Duy Trinh Data Analysis and Visualization with MS Excel Visual Programming with Alice Dynamic Webpage Programming with JavaScript Microsoft Excel is truly a great program. It allows users to make computations like a calculator with formulas among the “cells” of the grid. There are numerous functions users can use to calculate information on the spreadsheet, such as finding the sum or maximum of multiple cells. With the information inputted, Microsoft Excel can easily create graphs and charts to display data more aesthetically. Alice is a great program that lets users create great animations and learn how to program without them even realizing it. With Alice, people can add objects to a common map and use commands to interact with the said objects. It allows students to ease into JavaScript language with using loop and parameter tools given in the program. JavaScript is HTML taken to another level. It allows users in HTML to customize their website to a greater and a more efficient way. It’s no wonder why JavaScript is used in most websites today. With alert boxes and printing codes, JavaScript is very interactive with the user and allows them to shop online or play games with JavaScript’s reactionary codes.
