  2. The Basics cont... • Collaboration between Wake Tech, Wake County Public Schools and Wake County Commissioners • May accept rising seniors if we have approximately 30. We will not recruit rising seniors. • Students must apply to a specific program • Students must have met promotion requirements • World Language (Spanish)

  3. Overview of CTE Planned Programs • (10) programs planned • High school credential offered Certificate and/or Diploma • Students earn college credit

  4. Overview of CTE Planned Programs cont... • All programs provide a pathway to an AAS degree, certificate, or diploma program at Wake Tech • Goal is to incorporate WBL • Internships • Apprenticeships • Co-ops • Hands-on/Practical Application curriculum • Technical Standards

Planned CTE Certificate/Diploma Programs • Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration (AHR) • Biopharmaceutical Technology (BIO) • Collision Repair (COL)*this program is under development • Cosmetology (COS)/(Diploma) • Electrical Systems (ELC) • Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) • Nursing Assistant (NAS) • Plumbing (PLU) • Simulation & Game Development (SGD) • Welding (WLD)

  6. Academic Program Vision • Deliberate collaboration protocol between WTCC/ WCPSS teachers to make sure that the academic program is taught through a CTE lens • Softand employability skills • Project Based Learning • Flexible schedule to create integration • Design thinking

  7. Type of Student • understand value of core academics as part of program • criteria - last 2 report cards/ grades, GPA (3.0 GPA/ CCP), EOG/ C scores, behavior referrals (principal rec) • Passion for the program • underrepresented students/ diversity/ including gender

  10. CTE High School Pre- Application •1st generation college – 50% •Essay •Report Cards/EOG’s & EOC’s •College & Career Promise 3.0 GPA (principals can override) •Underrepresented populations for programs – gender •Reach out to middle schools for student names
