Preposition Rules • a preposition is a word that shows the relationship of a noun or a pronoun to another word. • Prepositions that consist of two or more words are called compound prepositions • As a rule, the object of the preposition follows the preposition • Sometimes , however, the object of the preposition comes before the preposition • Objects of prepositions may be compound

  3. Examples • Joe went to the nearest store. • Is she one of those trailing behind? • The kitten hopped into the big paper bag that Anita brought.
