  4. Difficulties with On-Site Events • Travel • $ (rental fee, gas, food, lodging) • Inefficient use of time • Scheduling • Everyone’s schedule is always changing • Setting visit dates for the optimum impact can be challenging (early in semester is better) • Compounded by attempting to do multiple visits in a day/outing • Date/Time of visit may not be best for students

  5. Adobe Connect – Just Like Being There! • Example: A live web meeting: • https://breeze.psu.edu/r34431391/ • Example: A recorded web meeting: • https://breeze.psu.edu/p25975351/

  6. Adobe Connect Benefits • Flexibility • Scheduling is easier w/ travel out of the equation • Broader Reach • One presentation to many people in many places • Your class, A colleague’s class, Administrators in their office, Career Services personnel in their office, etc… • More presentations • Six hour long presentations vs. Six hours of driving for one presentation. • Your class at 9:00 am, Your colleague’s class at noon, etc… • Recorded Presentation to be created • Can be used in impromptu and informal settings

  7. What you need: • Digital Projector (for a classroom setting) • Computer that can run Adobe Connect • Diagnostics available online: • https://breeze.psu.edu/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm • Computer Speakers • Computer Microphone (?) • Friends of Penn State (FPS) account • If you aren’t a PSU employee • http://fps.psu.edu

  9. Industry Outreach • Industry Outreach to date: • Arranged breakfast/lunch info sessions throughout the state • Meant to inform industry attendees about our programs so that they would be less hesitant to hire students with an NMT skill set • Good feedback on Sessions – Need to continue and build upon • Next approach to increasing student demand: Internships • Lower barrier to entry for companies • Introduces them to NMT students and their skills without long term commitment • Gov’t programs available to help offset employers costs ? • Next Steps Proposal: • 1 contact from each partner institution by June 1st, 2007 • CNEU/Partner/Contact to create an internship starting fall semester 2007. • Evaluate progress of intern mid-semester, determine continuation/expansion for coming semesters • Other Ideas from Partners
