  3. NEED OF R&D CELL In these days, R&D becomes increasing important in order to overcome the unprecedented transition stage of current technologies, social needs and to succeed in meeting the requirements for the need of the hour. The ability to predict market needs, select and focus on research themes, keep relevant divisions working together as a team, and operate with flexibility and speed is of the highest importance.  Due to these relationships, we can develop a comprehensive understanding of advanced market needs and can provide products that are de facto standards of excellence in the market. As a responsible engineer and technology-oriented people, we should intend to provide innovative products and leveraging solutions to enhance our national power by further developing our pioneering technologies.

  4. ABOUT SPHOORTHY R&D CELL AND INNOVATIVE IDEA CLUB Sphoorthy Research & development Center and Innovative Idea club is actively engaging in Open Innovation through selective and deep research commitments. It operates by sharing resources, leveraging ideas to create vibrant innovation systems, multiply our efforts, enhance innovation speed and efficiency, and derive more value for our organization. In addition, the need of the hour is also to promote scientific research, to enhance the technical competence of our nation. So it aims to become a top center for learning and research, so that our organization can flourish as a place of knowledge.

  5. VISION AND MISSION • VISION: The Objective of the Sphoorthy Research & Development Center is to bridge the gap between the educational institutes and industries, research centers of the nation by empowering the students with the hands on experience in key technologies of current state of the art and research capabilities. • MISSIOIN: The mission of the Sphoorthy Research & Development Center is to educate students in basic and advanced research areas to solve problems of society and to deliver solutions for various technology related issues, by forming collaborative relationships with Universities, industry and government for the benefit of the nation. And also supporting, encouraging and developing the research activities of staff and students in their pursuit of fresh insights, new knowledge and understanding.

  6. R&D CELL OBJECTIVES • Supporting and developing distinctive competencies of faculty members and students to build a new generation of researchers. • To promote and disseminate a culture of innovation, creativity and development in various fields of science and human knowledge. • Transferring and appropriating modern technology to fit with the local environment, for the purposes of national development. • Linking research policies with goals of the University and needs of society through providing advice and addressing problems through Innovation and Research. • To determine present and future Research community attitudes and aspirations, and to know well about current and anticipated problems in various sectors of the technology.

  7. R&D STRATEGIC PLAN I. Developing ground realities/basic Knowledge • Basic device/model operation and working principle • Troubleshooting the device/model • Printed circuit board development • Learning Algorithms through simulations • Learning Architecture development through experimentation

  8. CONTINUED…. II. Basic/Fundamental Research • Investigating new approaches/methods /algorithms/establishing new experimental procedures/Refining an existing technique/method/algorithm in an attempt of solving the current technology loop holes and characterization for performance evaluation • Investigating new architecture /Refining an existing architecture towards a feasible solution and characterization for performance evaluation • If not satisfactory :Back annotation to algorithm /architecture • Patent level

  9. CONTINUED…… III. Advanced research • Proposing and finding a feasible and reliable solution from the basic research results through verification methods • Validation and testing with already existing prototype model • If not satisfactory :Back annotation to algorithm /architecture • Patent level

  10. CONTINUED…… IV. Development • Developing the actual device/product prototype/test bed platform model • Validation and testing at field level (about functional performance) • If not satisfactory :Back annotation to algorithm/architecture • Clearance of Regularity issues from agencies/authorities/bodies • Patent level

  11. CONTINUED……. V. Production and marketing • Fabrication and time to market VI. Survey and feedback about the product • If not satisfactory : Back annotation to advance research and development phases VII. Identifying the scope/limitations of the developed product VIII.
