About Christmas • 25th December is the date for commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. • This festival is also associated with ancient Roman tradition of celebrating the resurgence of sun at winter solstice. • While Christianity is widespread all over the world, Christmas becomes a family holiday for both Christians and non-Christians in many places. Santa Claus Village • Santa Claus, also known as Father Christmas, originated from Saint Nicholas—the 4th century Christian Saint who reputed for giving presents to the needy generously. • As legend spreads, people believe that Santa Claus is living in the North Pole. • Santa Claus Village is located in Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland (i.e. on the Arctic Circle). • Every year, hundred thousands of people all over the world write letters to the Finnish Santa Claus for Christmas wishes.
