TERMS Update Symposium 2014-15 Carolyn Hill Christine LaNovara _______________________ CSR Consultants: Ray LaFevre Mark Thomas Margaret Underhill Sue Whiting
2014 Legislative Updates Legislation will keepperiod-by-periodcompliance for Non-Charter schools for 2014-15: Grades PK-3 = 18 Grades 4-8 = 22 Grades 9-12 = 25 For classrooms out of compliance, school wide average (along with the number of students out period-by-period) will be utilized for penalty calculation. Calculation of penalty is now utilizing 100% Base Student Allocation vs. 50% Full Core Course Listing available on the CSR Website: http://www.broward.k12.fl.us/casdl/csrdata/ Recall that our #1 Goal was: To have enough instructional staff to meet Class Size Reduction State Mandate 2 Overarching Considerations Limit Student movement Limit Staff movement
Master Schedule Considerations • Additional students per grade level will be enrolled in one class – utilize co-teaching to assist with larger class. • ALL Non-ESE Fee-based classrooms must be PRE-approved PRIOR to implementation & will be defined during Budget Conferences • Headstart – requires grantees to maintain a 1 adult per 10 students ratio, notexceeding20 students per class, throughout the day (18 for developmentally delayed classes) • Nesting is NOT the same as Blended Learning • Specific requirements for Blended Learning • Must have prior OSPA approval • Middle School Teaming will be cost neutral • High School AP courses running over 10+ will be reviewed • Staffing Utilization details can be found in CSR guidelines on CSR Website. Do NOT schedule classes with non-approved positions!
Room Utilization Codes • Room Utilization Data (Terms C01) should be updated by August 1st!
Issue: All unscheduled rooms should be coded with a Room Utilization Code in the C01 TERMS panel. • Corrective Action:Go to the TERMS C01 panel and enter the appropriate room utilization codes ONLY on the rooms listed here.
