  2. Ukhta State Technical University (USTU) is the largest technical university in the European North of the country.

  3. Ukhta State Technical University is the successor of the Ukhta Industrial Institute , the first technical institution in the Komi Republic. Ukhta Industrial Institute started its work on the1st of September, 1967.

  4. In April 1999, Ukhta Industrial Institute received the status of State Technical University.

  5. USTU includes ten faculties and more than thirtydepartments, a College of Technology and two branches in Vorkuta and Usinsk.

  6.   7. Since 1997, the Rector of Ukhta State Technical University is the Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Nikolai Denisovich Tshadaya.

  8. The university has18 specialties.

  9. Students can go in for sport in the sport complex “Burevestnik”, on ski trails in Ukhta and the Polar Urals, on a hockey stadium.

  10. Students have a lot of activities : a KVN club, an amateur theatre, literary associations.

  11. In USTU there are newspapers "Polytechnic" and "University News». The University has a museum of the history of the USTU.

  12. Every year graduators celebrate the last day of their studying

  13. The University supports international contacts with schools in Germany, UK and USA.
