  17. Technology Advisory Committee • Began working on the new tech plan last year in 2011-2012 • Tech Advisory met three times in 2011-2012 and three times in 2012-2013 • Collaborated online and reviewed and revised the tech plan • Prioritized tech plan projects

  27. Students Who are College and Career Ready • In planning and writing the next plan we collected information and input from a large variety of areas • State and National Standards • Surveys of students, staff, teachers, and administrators • Feedback from Tech Advisory

  28. Students Who are College and Career Ready Use technology and digital media strategically and capably. Students employ technology thoughtfully to enhance their reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language use. They tailor their searches online to acquire useful information efficiently, and they integrate what they learn using technology with what they learn offline. They are familiar with the strengths and limitations of various technological tools and mediums and can select and use those best suited to their communication goals. -Common Core State Standards

  30. “EdTech is Integral” • Educational technology is no longer a standalone component of public K–12 education—separate from administration, teaching, learning and assessment.

  31. “EdTech is Integral” • EdTech is integral to the state’s online testing initiative, which will expand significantly with the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) assessments in 2014-15.

  32. “EdTech is Integral” • The K–12 system will find it increasingly difficult to graduate college- and career-ready students without significant attention paid to technology literacy. As with any subject, the need to build knowledge and skills begins in the elementary grades and continues into a student’s senior year.

  41. Annual State Technology Survey • 20% of 8th graders are at Tier III or proficient in their use of technology • 21.5% of teachers are in Tier III • 35.1% of administrators are in Tier III
