Advanced Academics: • Advanced Placement (AP) – program created by the College Board offering college-level curriculum and examinations to high school students • Pre-AP/Honors – advanced-level coursework for motivated students • Dual Credit – college credit in high school courses
Recommendations for Successful Honors Course Selection • Grades: • 80 if the previous year’s course was an Honors Class • 90 if the previous year’s course was a Level Class • Honors to level and level to honors moves only at: • Three (3) weeks • Six (6) weeks • Semester • Parent and Teacher signatures are required for a level change on the schedule change form

AVID is: • an in-school academic support program that prepares students for • college success. • a program that places students in the academic middle into advanced classes. • an elective credit & may waive the Comm Apps requirement. • * All AVID students are required to be in at least one honors or • upper level course while enrolled in the program.
New Courses: • There are several new courses for students to consider: • AP Environmental Science (11/12) • Astronomy (11/12) • College Transition Honors Dual (11/12) • Social Action (12) *subject to change
Pass/Fail • Up to 8 semesters • Course beyond graduation requirements • Grades excluded from GPA & rank calculation • Application required each semester • Grades on progress reports/report cards for eligibility. • Transcript will have P or F – not number grade **Pass/Fail is advantageous for only a small percentage of students
Only LEVEL schedulechanges will be made after June 7th (the last day of school).
