  4. Community Engagement • Focus on Children and Hunger • $15.8 million donated in 2009 through customers, vendors, associates and corporate contributions • Local Schools • Regional Food Banks • Children’s Hospitals • US Armed Forces • United Way • Other Local Causes

  5. Local Schools • More than $6 million donated to 1,400 local public, private and parochial schools through A+ School Rewards.

  6. Hunger Relief • Donated $4 million in 2009 in food and funds • Announced $50,000 donation to Central VA Food Bank to fight childhood hunger • Nearly 200,000 pounds of food donated to regional food banks through the conversion process • Purple Drop Off Boxes Remain • Continue Bag Credit Program in Central VA

  7. Children’s Hospitals • Donated $22 million over 13 years • Conduct in-store campaigns, radiothons, events with children

  8. Troop Support • Host annual “Support Our Troops” campaign • Donated more than $965,000 to date to regional USOs • Deliver twice-yearly troop packages to family members of associates serving in the Armed Forces • Received 2008 Chairman’s Award from Liberty USO for dedication to troop morale

  9. Community Champions • All stores have a designated Community Champion • Work with the store manager to help raise awareness and funds and provide a valuable link between our stores and communities

  10. Bags to Benches • We turn plastic grocery bags into park benches and donate them • More than 1,400 benches have been donated to local park, schools and fire halls • 25 donated to City of Richmond
