Reykjavik 10.11.2009/Erik Häggman The Social Empowerment:The Youth Workshop Activity • build bridges between four sectors • average in 2008 was 22 000/month • unemployed just now 34 000 under 25-y. (sept 2009) • and in the youth workshops were 9000/year, means 4500/month • under 29-years old: 60 % men and 40% women • mostly guided from the labour force offices, 63%, the social care 13% and the education sector 10% • without guidance entered 5 %

Reykjavik 10.11.2009/Erik Häggman The Social Empowerment ...The Outreach Youth Work • the newest investment by the state subsidy • way to find young person who needs help to catch services • reason for the outreach work is the lack of initiative/self-help • close co-operation with youth workshops • town and country side; differencies • Costs: €1,1 million/40 years period/ one person or € 27 500/year/one young person: make it to be visible

Reykjavik 10.11.2009/Erik Häggman The Social Empowerment ...The Outreach Youth Work • Results • "catched" 1999 young people; 64% boys/men, 36% girls/women • 96% YES, 4 % NO • girls/women – age group: more 16-20 years old • boys/men – age group: more 18-24 years old • average is 16-20 years old, • youngest 12 y. oldest 28 y. • work experience is almost 9 years/outreach worker • net of contacts: 15 organisations; • more than 1 activity/ 1 young person

Reykjavik 10.11.2009/Erik Häggman The Social Empowerment ...The Multiprofessional Co-Operation • rebuilding new system for municipalities: The Youht Act will get new sections • cross-sectoral – multiprofessional • follow up of young people´s living condition; drop out´s ?, • local level: youth affairs, social- and health care, education, employment administration, police, defensive forces ... • supervisor is needed: exact task • the local politcal structure makes desicions of advanced for public services

Reykjavik 10.11.2009/Erik Häggman Developement projects • Mostly financed with ESR subsidies • Most part of the actions presented here have they background in different developement projects • Example of projects; • The project Successful lessons (“Onnistuvat opit”) was an embedding project commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and financed by the European Social Fund that was realised by Social Development Co Ltd, • A follow up project 2009-2011 • MAST-project: Vocational schools, Upper Secondary Schools, Basic Education, Youth Workshops and outreach youth work. Find good praxis and cooperation methodes between each actor in order to realise the target that 95 % get secondary education
