Overview Major Milestones – 61 of 62 completed to date out of a total of 94 Key Milestones – 5 completed to date (on time) Baseline Change Proposals (BCPs): 9 submitted to date (8 completed) Outstanding BCP: Conduct benchmarking at other DOE Labs for requirements management and configuration control functions (extended from April 30 to June 30, 2010) Baseline changes are not expected to affect deliverable dates of trailing items
Recent Noteworthy Accomplishments • Senior Lab Management authorization obtained to design, develop and implement a new Work Planning and Control (WP&C) Program at LBNL • Recommendations developed for upgraded Chemical Hygiene and Chemical Management System programs • Senior Lab Management approval obtained for Issues Management Program staffing model and program manuals were updated to reflect model • Requirements gap analysis completed for “higher risk” ES&H Programs • Conceptual model developed for restructured Occupational Injury and Illness Recordkeeping and Reporting Program
Recent Noteworthy Accomplishments (cont.) • Updated Self-assessment program guidance and manuals to increase effectiveness / efficiency, including improved guidance on “how to” perform assessments • Submitted a report to Senior Lab Management providing short and long term recommendations to improve the Non-radiological Exposure Assessment (EA) program • Prepared and executed a plan to clearly communicate roles, responsibilities, and accountability with respect to safety
Upcoming Major Attractions • By July 1: • Requirements management benchmarking to identify recommended approaches for Senior Lab Management consideration (June 30) • An approved process to develop and implement ES&H programs • Improved training for personnel performing ES&H self-assessments • By July 15: • Implementation plans for the WP&C and EA improvement projects with identified scope, milestones, resources, and schedule
Challenges & Opportunities • Integrating improvement efforts of major initiatives such as exposure assessment and WP&C • Continuing to partner with Division representatives to develop innovative solutions, and fostering a culture for increased line management involvement and ownership • Getting the word out on CAP driven developments affecting our staff, management, and DOE
