  2. Kansas 4-H SpaceTech Project Areas • Astronomy • Computers • Robotics • Rocketry • Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)

  3. SpaceTech Astronomy • Focuses on things outside of Earth’s atmosphere, like the planets, the sun, the Milky Way Galaxy, black holes, and things like that • Typical projects: • Telescopes • Posters • Notebooks

  4. SpaceTech Computers • Focuses on computer technology, how they talk to each other (networking), how to program them, and how we get them to interact. • Typical projects: • Websites • Scratch projects (https://scratch.mit.edu/) • Virtual Machines • Video Games • Micro Controlled systems (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, CHIP PCs, etc. )

  5. SpaceTech Robotics • Focuses on how we automate things (make things do stuff for us). Typically though of as robots • Typical projects: • Lego Mind Storms (EV3 and NXT) • Pop Can Robots • Junk drawer robots (simple machines) • Robotic arms (water and electric) • NVIDIA Jetbot (for advanced youth) (https://github.com/NVIDIA-AI-IOT/jetbot)

  6. SpaceTech Rocketry • Focuses on how to build and fly rockets, it all comes down to Newton's laws of motion. • Typical projects: • Big rockets • Small rockets • Scratch Built Rockets • Educational displays

  7. SpaceTech UAS • Focuses on using Unmanned Aerial Systems to enhance our lives • Typical projects: • Scratch built “drones” • Aerial field surveys • Site exploration • Aerial acrobatics • Pasture management • Educational displays *No gliders don’t count as UAS exhibits
