Starting points • Global economy – international school • Efficient school: • More knowledge in less time • Shortening and extending the period of study(LLL) • A school competing for students and supportingthe economy • Highlighting special features due to competition • Student can create their own possibilities

Main Goals of the Bolognia Declaration • Higher education system with two main cycles (undergraduate/graduate) • Introduction of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) • Promoting student and teacher mobility • Taking part in quality assurance • Promoting European dimensions in higher education programs

  5. Does a shorter period of study lower our quality? No! • Good secondary-school background knowledge • New teaching techniques • Cleaning up course content • Lifelong learning • From research into classrooms as soon as possible

  6. What is a good school according to the Bologna Declaration? • Many teachers • A large number of elective subjects • Opportunity to choose subjects and professors • At least partially in English • Many academic publications • Many professors from abroad • Many foreign students • Foreign accreditation • Many cooperation agreements with other schools • Distinguished graduates • As much funding as possible from business • Career center, international center, teaching center, PR, friendly administration and an Alumni Club • An Internet site with all the information

Process of Preparing New Academic Programs at the Faculty of Economics 2000 Benchmarking study Preparation of the “European Management” Pilot Program 2002 Preparation of programs within individual departments Criterion: International comparability Fall 2004 Submitting 14 restructured programs (2 undergraduate and 12 master’s) to the University of Ljubljana and the Higher Education Agency December 2004 Approval of the RS Higher Education Council Accredited: 2 new 1st-cycle (undergraduate) and 12 new 2nd-cycle (master’s) programs

Process of Preparing New Academic Programs at the Faculty of Economics October 2005 • Started implementing: • 1st year of the new university first-cycle (undergraduate) program at the UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS • 1st year of the new higher education professional first-cycle (undergraduate) program of the BUSINESS SCHOOL • 1st years of 12 new second-cycle (master’s) programs

EQUIS accreditation • 11 October 2007 FELU received the global EQUIS quality accreditation status which is a result of excellence in all activities: • creation of a learning environment, • teaching, • attention to student development, • advising, • research, • process organization, • high level of international involvement and • connections with the business world.
