St Mary’s CBGSValue AddedHow can we effectively measure pupil progression at each Key Stage?
Key Stage 3 Model • How do we baseline pupil potential? • Year 8 - PIM/PIE 12 • Year 9 - PIM/PIE 13 • Year 10 - PIM/PIE 14 Exemplar Marksheet used on SIMS How do we use the data produced? • Average Value Added can be calculated for individual classes/teachers/entire Year Group. • Individual pupils offered support where necessary through our LS team. • These figures are then compared to previous Year Groups to look at trends in performance. • Simple Model • We examine the differences in stanine scores for each pupil as they progress through each Year Group. • If a pupil achieves the same stanine score in PIE/PIM from Year 8 to Year 9 and from Year 9 to Year 10, then we deem this satisfactory progress as he has achieved the expected level according to his age.
How do we baseline pupil potential? • Yellis CABT (June Yr 10) • Predicted GCSE Grades • Allocated Points per Grade Exemplar Marksheet used on SIMS Key Stage 4 Model • Simple Model • We examine the differences in predicted grades/points across all subjects for each pupil (June Yr 10 – August Yr 12). • If a pupil achieves the same GCSE Subject Grade/Points score as they are predicted by Yellis then we deem this satisfactory progress. • Normal expectations are on average half a grade above Yellis. • How do we use the data produced? • Average Value Added can be calculated for individual classes/teachers/entire Year Group. • Individual pupils offered support where necessary through our LS team. • Staff/subject performance residual figures used in meetings with Teacher/HoD/VP/Principal. • Overall subject trends examined through comparison with previous Year Groups.
How do we baseline pupil potential? • C2k Prediction/Chance grades • Median Grade • Allocated points per grade Exemplar Marksheet used on SIMS Key Stage 5 Model • Simple Model • We examine the differences in predicted grades/points across all subjects for each pupil. • If a pupil achieves the same A2 Subject Grade/Points score as they are predicted by Chance then we deem this satisfactory progress. • Residual points scores are calculated for individual pupils and average residuals for classes/subjects. • How do we use the data produced? • Average Value Added can be calculated for individual classes/teachers/entire Year Group. • Staff/subject performance residual figures used in meetings with Teacher/HoD/VP/Principal. • Overall subject trends examined through comparison with previous Year Groups.
