  2. What is global warming? • Global warming is one of the most serious challenges our planet faces. Global warming will also increase the severity of hurricanes, cause major flooding, and intensify desertification. Global warming is the direct result of adding too much carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Also it is when the earth is heated up too much.

  3. What humans activities contribute to climate change? The burning of coal, oil, and natural gas, as well as deforestation and various agricultural and industrial practices, are changing the composition of the atmosphere and contributing to climate change. Human activities have led to increased atmospheric concentrations of a number of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and ozone in the lower part of the atmosphere.

  4. Effects • It can be seen from satellite images and research that the ice caps are melting faster. • Our sea levels are rising. • Weather patterns are changing. • We are experiencing more water shortages. • We see hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones increasing in ferocity and frequency. • The deserts will expand and the world will ultimately have difficulty growing enough food. • Without doubt, we have to change the way we live.

  7. How to prevent global warming? There are many ways to prevent global warming. One of the simplest ways you can have a direct impact on global warming and the environment is to help create more renewable resources, or recycling. Also planting trees can help prevent global warming because plants store carbon. Another solution for global warming is not littering and throwing garbage where they belong.

  8. Effects on Humans • Global warming is not only hazardous for animals and environment, it can have some serious effects on human health as well. • As the air warms up, heat related illnesses and deaths will increase. • The number of typhoons, floods, and wildfires, causing some major injuries, deaths, psychological traumas, and damages to human lives.

  9. Our Duty • In obedience to Allah we must care for the environment. • In obedience to Allah we must do more good, not only to our home, but our future children’s home. • It is our job to be active in protecting what Allah has given us to take care of.
