  2.  Meet Ms. Kim  • 8th year at Haverford Middle School (Wow! Time flies when you’re having fun!) • Born and raised in S. Korea and immigrated to the U.S. in 3rd grade

  3. Education • Product of Philadelphia School District (Central H.S., Wilson M.S., J.Hampton Moore E.S.) • Temple University • B.S.Ed. in Elementary, Early Childhood & Special Education • PA certified in Elementary, Early Childhood, Special Education

  4. Education continued…. • University of Pennsylvania • M.S.Ed. in Reading, Writing, and Literacy • Temple University • TESOL Certification Program

  5. Math Program • Curriculum – based on PA Core Standards • Resources • Math In Focus text (Books A & B) • on-line component (my.hrw.com)

  6. Grading • Grades: • 80% - Chapter tests& quizzes • 20% - • Homework- graded for effort & completion (check website for extra resources) • Class work • Class participation • Midterm and final • Please check PowerSchool for grades

  7. Expectations • Persevere, struggle, try everything, ask questions - don’t wait until day of test!! • Math Club – • Just for 6th grade students • Usually 2 days/week – T & Th 2:40 – 3:20 in the library effective now!! • ** Students will need transportation home!

  8. Homework • Given every day except weekends • Always practice multiplication and division skills! • Review vocabulary
